Help me decide on a potential HIGH END optic for my Evol Mini

March is the way to go.

Coming from the world of powder burners and more expensive optics (Nightforce, Zeiss, Schmidt & Bender, etc) I struggle with putting expensive glass on an airgun. When I consider the overall range that I shoot at is inside of 100 yards.

I get everyone has their unique application based on their requirements, mine being pesting and target shooting, but for me I find the mid tier offerings address my airgun requirements. I ordered an Athlon Talos BTR Gen 2 with 4-20×50 for my Evol Mini which checks all of your boxes except being a little over 3 oz from your listed weight requirement:

Clear glass for the money, FFP, tracks well (big turrets), good tactile clicks and an impressive reticle. It is available on Optics Planet with a 12% coupon code MAGNIFI12 if you are interested:

Whatever direction you go, best of luck to you finding the optic that best meets your needs.

I've had a March 3-24x42, a March 5-40x56, a March HM 5-42x56, and now own a March shorty 1-10 as well as a March Genesis HM 4-40x52. Of all those only the Genesis has extremely nice glass and lacks odd optical distractions. The rest did not give me that WOW!! experience I was looking for.

On paper the March 4.5-28 HM is not so compromised optically whereas my 5-42 had some odd things about it optically. That's the March I'd try.

Though personally because of the lower power level of the mini I wouldn't spend the money for a March scope. Actually the Athlon DMR Helos G2 2-12x42 is pretty much perfect for it. You won't out shoot that .3 mil center dot outside of 25Y because at any distance inside 100Y that's about what your rifles precision is capable of in perfect conditions. Basically 1/4" at 25Y and 1/2" at 50Y, 3/4" at 75Y, and 1" at 100Y. See what I mean.

If not that ^ then the Helos G2 4-20.
