Help me design a target

I'm trying to put together a target game made out of steel plate. 

My idea is to have a sweet spot the pellet can fly through and impact a Necco Wafer. i.e. Tiny little clays that animals will clean up after the fact. 

I'm looking for an easy-cheap, and reliable way to hold the Necco's in place behind the target. All I really got so far is; hot glue... which is impractical for in the field, and tape which might work, or it might hold well enough to not notice the Necco breaking easily. Ideally I'd like something that will hold the Necco in and not rely on gravity to hold it in place.... i.e. the targets could be turned 45*, and could be screwed, welded, or glued to the plate steel.

I'm puzzled. Could you tell me how a stick of hot melt glue and lighter is impractical?

Here's a quick though I had...The wafers slid into the channels on the back and the bottom target is held in place by the tabs in the channel and behind the hole in the target. Once you shoot the wafer it falls apart and the next wafer drops in place.

I've shown the target made of metal but it could just as easily be made with a plate steel for the front and the "channels" made out of wood (they wouldn't be getting shot) and screwed onto the plate.

Terrific idea, won't work for my project, but good enough to get a whole new project going.

My targets won't be much bigger than one Necco.

Finally, someone found a use for dreaded Necco Wafers. It has to be one of the worst tasting candies ever made.

Would a clothes pin work? Or would it break the wafer? Or a modified clothes pin with a clam shell attached at the clamp with a whole in the middle?

Or make something that works the way a quarter gumball machine works. I.e. Put a wafer in the top, turn a knob and it locks it in by rotating it. (Trying to be as descriptive as I can with out putting a picture up.) I don't think it's working)

Or even modify rubicon joeys idea and only have one wafer in it and close the top with a spring hinge. Or just plug it up with a magnet.
im trying here probably over complicating it. Although I think I could probably figure it out by using a clothes pin or a magnet...
