Help me Fit gun in Apache case

Exactly what is the best method of fitting a rifle in a case? Do you center it as I have here or Do you move it off to the side? How do you cut the foam out and not destroy it? What do others do?

Give yourself plenty of space all around the gun - don't pack items too close. Place all the things you would like to carry along with the rifle. Do you want a couple tins of pellets? Silencer? Cleaning rod for those rare chances of getting a pellet jammed in the barrel. Etc. Then as stated above, trace and cut. There is no law that says where each item is placed.

I went to a foam and fabric store and bought half inch foam that I spray glued together to make the right thickness. I wish I could remember the brand of foam because it worked really well. I basically traced the shapes and cut them with a serrated knife. Very easy.

Here’s a pic to give you some ideas.

This is a harbor freight model. It's made up of perforated squares, it makes sense that I trace the object and remove just the solid squares within the scribed lines, if a square is on the line, I should leave that square attached. At least I believe that's how these are to be done after looking at it more.

Nice to see the other examples loaded to the brink, how did you get a bottle to fit in that? Must be a real case with real foam. I seen some $2,000 cases on a site, ones a guitar shape but holds a gun.

@Deltaman - Nice setup! I suggest having the grip pointed at the bottom of the case so the scope is not getting banged around. I did not cutout my rifle in the foam because padding is good and I am clumsy. I wanted as much padding as possible inside the case. Plus, I have a lot of rifles and only two hard cases so I can use any case with any rifle. I would have over a dozen hard cases!

After getting the foam cut out for everything, I take the foam out the case and spray a couple coats of spray Plasti-Dip over the foam. It seals the pick&pluck foam and leaves a nice texture to it...it also prevents the edges of the cut outs from tearing and getting ragged looking over time. Here's one of my target pistol cases that I did it on.

I have the China Freight case as well.
Place your gun so that scope is next to handle, not hinge line. Then your gun will be upright when you carry the case.
Lastly, place the butt of your rifle at the end with wheels so that when towed, or stored standing, the gun will be pointing muzzle up as you would store it in a gun safe.
