In 2025, I think I might reward myself for some major life changes and shoot for (no pun intended) an “end game” airgun. I’m talk’n no collection of multiple guns - just one high end gun, quality over quantity, mult-purpose and stunning to look at rifle, sparing no expense and just “going for it.” something that I’ll hang on my wall when not using it.
I’m trying to take my time on the decision, and am wondering what rifles you folks might suggest I look at. I also am wondering if, given the same price bracket, at a certain point the decision between guns might be splitting hairs and “which one do you like the look of more” is the real answer...well that and ergonomics.
some of what I know I am looking for are as follows, but maybe there is more I should be but am not thinking of:
-I want to be able to switch calibers/barrels for different use cases
-I want to be able to use it for hunting, but I also want to be able to use it for competition shooting
-I really like long range shooting, so that is a bit of a must as well.
-I want a wood stock. I know synthetic is generally lighter and more resistant to bumps and dings, but I want that wood aesthetic.
-I want it to loon attractive. It should be beautiful to the eyes and not off-putting if on a wall.
-it should be regulated.
-it should *not* be bolt action (like the Benjamin Marauder for example.)
-it should have customizability.
-It should last for the rest of my life, age with me, and outlive me. Looking for an heirloom item —though I don‘t have children.
-barrel/shroud should be threaded to allow for a moderator.
-bonus points but not required that it be US made. It should not be Chinese.
some brands/models I am looking:
-Daystate Alpha (there are various Alpha models so I’ll have to decide which, but I like the Safari and the special blue one. However, the Performance model is nice too.)
-Western Airguns Rattler. It’s not a wood stock but it’s made in the US and otherwise really cool.
-Daystate Huntsman is very attractiv, but I think I can do better for endgame.
I know the AirForce Texan is very popular, but it’s just not for me.

Definitely reconsider the “one gun and done” philosophy as it is unrealistic. Ponder how you will actually use these your prospective PCPs and open that wallet. Looking forward to what you decide on, simply remember to ”spend a lot” to keep in the spririt of the thread title…
