Help me understand the reasoning with regards to high end springers

I see thread after thread. And video after video of people with rifles like AA and Weihrauch, etc.
where they spend a premium on these rifles that shoot 25+ FPE. Then turn around and spend time and money to cut the power in half or more. All in the name of stacking pellets?

Seriously these guns shoot great without choking them to death power wise.

For me. I’d rather shoot dime size groups at 25 yards @ full power than shoot a 1/4in group at 1/2 power.

But maybe it’s because I don’t compete in target shooting. I practice shooting, I hunt, I pest, I plink.
A 1500.00 12fpe serves no useful purpose in my mind.

This is not an attack on springers. It’s my personal problem with lack of understanding.
Where I see most other shooters tend to tune for more power, more efficiency, and more accuracy.

Don’t hate me. I just want to know🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

There is an entire shooting sport that you aren't aware of. YouTube 'Field Target Airgun Competition'.

First, I'd love to know where you found a 25fpe Air Arms TX200 or a Weihrauch under lever.

Most good spring guns were designed to shoot at a certain power level, but have been juiced up to appeal to the American market. However, tuning them to their optimal power level (usually slightly less than factory) often times makes them shoot much more accurately.

The accuracy increase coming from being easier to shoot, ie: less hold sensitive and harsh.

Not many 25+fpe springers about. Probably not gonna hit much with one either.
I used to be all about the power but I got older = wiser. I realized that where I shoot and what I shoot requires very little power. It may be due to safety concerns or repeatable accuracy. I like to shoot very small things at 50 yds or less.
It's an airgun, if I need power I would use a powder burner

screw the concept that any of these rifles are going to compete
they are buying quality and changing them to what they what
more horsepower is not the answer to what many want but they what to build THEIR GUN on the platform they what
the metal is better, the wood is better, the triggers are better, the platform is better

Even the hardest hitting springers are low powered in comparison to what else is out there. Having the hardest hitting springer is like being the strongest kid at a spelling bee. It really doesn't matter because the more accurate speller is still going to win most of the time. Don't get me wrong, I love my magnums but they are rarely the guns I go to because the lower powered guns get the job done just as well and are typically much easier shoot.

Sorry. Didn’t mean to hurt your feelings.
