Help navigating all the FX Impact options

Hi Guys

I'm interested in getting an FX Impact. I've watched a bunch of videos but I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with all options - barrels, calibers etc.

Can someone point me to the best websites/forums/groups etc to help me please? I live in northern NJ (yup! Air rifles are considered firearms here)

In a nutshell. I have a HW90 so have break-barrel .22 plinking sorted. I want the FX for heavyweight hunting and long distance targets. I'm leaning towards slugs and hybrids. So maybe .30 or even .35 cal. But is the .35 too much? But would I buy a .30 and regret not having the power of the .35? What barrel is best. What length is best? What else do I need to consider?

Appreciate any advice.

Have you watched some of the videos on Youtube by Tedholdover??? Great videos showing different calibers and videos. I prefer the .30 caliber in PA for all different sorts of hunting, I also have the FX Crown in 25. i shot the maverick Recently in .22 for a smaller game and man that thing is powerful. We actually took down a deer at 90 yards. So there are some good options. We were shooting in North Jersey too by Clinton. If you ever plan on boar hunting .35 is the way to go. I just watched some guys in texas hunting hogs in trucks with a .35 and wow that was awesome to see.

Thanks for your feedback. Do you shoot pellets, hybrids and/or slugs when hunting? What barrel do you use?

NJ obviously is so restrictive. I'd like to hunt for rabbits but the coyotes seem to have eaten them all. I know .30 or .35 is ridiculous for a rabbit, but I feel I need to start small and work up.

Clinton isn't that far from me. Are you hunting at the Clinton Wildlife Management Area Rifle Range?

Thanks Mark. Good insight. I believe that as .30 ammo is lighter than .35, it can be fired faster and improve its spin. That makes sense?

Pellets are drag stabilized like a badminton birdie not spin stabilized, but slugs yeah it makes sense.

.30 is a great caliber for an Impact, .22 would be a better start I'd say as the ammo is so cheap.
