Tuning Help Needed! Leaking FX Royale 400

This is a frustrating leak, it's leaking from the regulator breathing hole at the bottom of the breech clock, just below the gauge. This just started after I removed the tank to replace it with a new one. Prior to removing the tank, there were no leaks at all! I have no idea how just removing the tank caused the leak, but apparently it did!

I have replaced the o-rings on the regulator, but it's still leaking. If I air it up to 200 BAR, it will leak down to about 100 BAR and stops. Any ideas what else may be causing the leak and how to fix it? Thanks...

That does sound strange. I assume you have verified that it's not leaking from either the gauge, or the action screw body just behind the vent hole. Otherwise, I would replace the reg O rings again, and thoroughly clean the plenum area where the reg slides in. I can't see where merely replacing the bottle could have caused the leak.

So, how many o-rings should there be in the regulator? I see 2 on the outside, which I have already replaced twice, and one small one on the inside, but it appeared to be in good condition. The diagram only shows the two o-rings on the outside. When I removed the Tube Receiver there was nothing between it and the regulator, but the diagram shows a plastic washer: (Plastic Washer 18,9x15x3 Tube Receiver). I'm not sure where to get one of these, but there wasn't one in there before and it held air fine. Also, when I air it up, it will only fill to about 2000 psi and then it starts to leak.

Hit it with a rubber mallet or the palm of your hand like you are beating it real hard with lots of repetition and fire some shots in between you want to force it to seat well do it while filling make sure the foster fitting is on there good. This is not unusual when degassing FX guns when starting off with no leak just be degassing in many instances but not all cases. After it's seated just shoot the hell out of the gun.

You probably didn't even need to go through the trouble to even do a reseal for the regulator.

Where should I beat it? Butt stock? Back of the breech? I did replace the internal o-rings in the regulator and aired it up to 220 BAR. I don't know if the new o-rings fixed that problem or not since it's now leaking out the barrel! So, something must be fouling the valve also. I did try dry firing it a few times, but the leak is still there. I think I need a complete o-ring rebuild kit for it and replace every one of them!

Well, I took Odoyle's advice and tapped it with some authority using a rubber mallet! I think I'll refer to that mallet as my magic wand from now on! LOL! It had leaked down to 110 BAR overnight, so I filled it to 230 BAR and shot 4 magazines through it. After that, I did not hear any leaking out the barrel or the breech opening, so I filled it back up to 220 BAR and shot 2 full magazines through it. It's sitting right at 200 BAR now, so I'll let it sit overnight and see where it's sitting tomorrow.

When I initially disassembled the regulator, I did so before I watched Ernest Rowe's video. Big mistake! LOL! I removed the Belville's and cleaned them, but didn't take any measurements before doing so! The second time, after watching the video, I heated the body of the regulator and was able to get it apart and replace all the internal 0-rings and put 2 more new o-ring on the reg body also. Using Ernest's generic measurement, I reassembled it and air it up. This is when I discovered the valve leak and put it away till today.

I guess I'll see where it's sitting tomorrow and take it from there. None of the o-rings I had on hand were the correct size, close, but not what's needed, so I have no idea how long it will last before it starts to leak again... Thanks to all that helped me out!

Looks like it's back to the drawing board! This morning it had leaked back down to 130 BAR! I think it's probably due to the o-rings not being the correct size. I guess the next step is to try a new one. A generous member here reached out and offered to send me one, so hopefully, that will fix the problem!

Beating it saves 20bar so far. I would just try and shoot the hell out of it Non stop for 2 days straight even if it leaks and note if it appears to seal any better the more you shoot it. Dry fire is fine while watching TV down to that 130bar then refill and keep shooting.

Then after 2 days of defibrillator action and no significant improvement then replace all the o-rings.

Last resort to follow after that complete reseal PM me if nothing helps.

LOL! Sounds like major surgery is in order! The new regulator should be here on Monday. I'm going to try that first, then I'll try the major defibrillator action! I did order an o-ring kit from eBay, just in case. Will probably replace the remaining o-rings even if the new reg does fix the problem, they are all probably getting old, so a little preventative maintenance is probably due... If all those actions fail, I will definitely shoot you a PM for what to try next! Although, I did see where someone spilled the beans on your secret FiX, so I may give that a try also! Thanks again for your help!

I had a micro fine crack in my regulator that did the very same thing your guns doing. I ended up replacing the regulator

Interesting... I have a new regulator coming, so that should confirm if it's the regulator leaking or something else. I'll take a closer look at the regulator that in it when I replace it. Thanks for the heads up!

UPDATE! I received the new regulator and just installed it. I have aired up the rifle to 230BAR and have placed it in the safe to monitor for the next 24 hours. I am happy to report there is no audible sound of a leak, so that's definitely a step in the right direction! I would once again like to thank the member here who sent me the regulator. I hope this is the last leak and it fixes the problem!
