N/A Help on selecting first air rifle

New to the air rifle world and looking for the quietest, best PCP rifle for the money with an emphasis on quiet. Will be used on 4 acres for target shooting and small game very rarely. I come from the precision rifle match shooting world (10 years ago) so I understand centerfire rifles and ballistics. Looking forward to trying out the airguns and seeing how far they can shoot! Budget is 1,000-2,000 without a scope. Thanks ahead of time for all the info.

O you can take a .22 to 400 - 600 yards just fine, if your pray are 12 inches or so in diameter and you dont have to knock it dead.
Personally i do not call something that big a target, my largest targets are 4" though but i prefer to use the 2" ones, but then in turn i only have .177 and only 130 M to make good with.
My absolute favorite target,,,,, flies.

I am currently enjoying my Epic airguns Two rifle, that and its newer sibling the One Shooter 1721 / Rick have stretchered out just fine.
sounds like you for sure would want a rifle that is mainly slugs.

Coming from your world, it sounds like you will be picky about what you want. Check out the bench rest match results and see what the top shooters are using. Most accurate rifles are: FX Impact or Panthera, RAW hm1000x, Daystate red or black wolf, Red Panda, Ghost, and not necessarily in that order. Then there is caliber selection and features like adjustability and ease of caliber changing. I recommend reading posts from this and other forums and try to sift through some of the BS then make your decision. Whatever it is, I’ll guarantee it won’t be your first and only one. Jump in, the water’s fine.

I am thinking Bench rest shooters is shooting what they are given / paid to shoot, i am not sold entirely on that rather narrow line up of brands and models you mention.

A few years ago, no one knew of Karma, and some random guy walked up with a RTI and won it all,,,, well one big competition.

I am personally eying the Macavity MA8 as a possible purchase to replace my Maverick, this also a brand new brand if you disregard the cheapo they already launched.
MA8 still have to carry a acceptable price though or i will walk away CUZ i am tied to .177 and so really kick ass accuracy and distance is never going to be a option to me, and i am not paying +3000 USD for any .177 rifle

Airgun sound-reducing "shroud" technology utilizes a tube surrounded barrel with air stripper/baffles between end of barrel and end of shroud to redirect air back into this space. Less air exiting airgun means less noise. Taipan Veterans, AGT's Uragan 2/3 and Vulcan 3 all use large shrouds to minimize noise without the use of external moderators. WM

Quiet isn't a real issue, we can have moderators. PCP's are a whole different breed from PR, think of them like trying to shoot 1 moa at 1,000 yards with a 5.56, ok cancel that I've seen it done but it's not easy. Your budget will get you in the door, it's all down the Rabbit Hole® from there. You need air and storage for the air. With your numbers you're in the price range of a USA made Jefferson State Raptor, very simple gun and very repeatable.

Another good option would be a Taipan Veteran Gen 1 in 22Cal. Anything you choose would benefit from a decent moderator. Huggett or STO would be my choice.
I’ve seen quite a few folks recommend the STO. I too was on the hunt for a new moderator. I just purchased the Falx and Sarissa. They’re coming in next Monday. I have high expectations. 😁

A .25 caliber RAW HM1000x , chose your preferred stock or chassis. Just about everything one could ask for in a file. That’s my opinion. Simply built, not a whole bunch of adjustments to be made externally , great LW barrels. Sure it’s simple to some , but if you want to set it and just shoot it’s a great choice.
