Tuning Help once again with my pp700sa

I tired doing a serach and going through threads, im sure this has been asked in the past. How does the pp700sa perform shooting slugs through stock barrel? If so what size and brand of slug is good.

Finally, is there a red dot that goes directly to dovetail mount on pistol? I found that using a pistol scope at five yards i have to raise the backend of the scope. Is there enough elevation adjustment on a red dot?

Thanks everyone this forum has been a big help.

For a red dot I like the utg micro red dot

I’ve never shot slugs out of mine but I know knife was having success with some cast slugs. I have a bunch of different size .22 slugs from NSA I can send you some of each size I have.

I have written quite a bit on this subject in the archive. The best sight I found is a reflex sight, not a red dot. On all of these sights I tried the sight line is at least 1.750" above the barrel line. Even though you can adjust the sight for distances less than 25 yards, you should not do this because the zero distance is then too critical. I set my reflex sight for zero at 25 yds and with 36" of holdover, it works to 100 yards and the reflex sight still allows the target to be seen. For shorter distances I use a laser mounted in the milled slots in the shroud. I then adjusted the laser beam to be dead parallel to the bore. This works very well for distances less than 25 yards and is especially good for pesting. I leave both the reflex sight and the laser sight mounted at the same time. The laser line is a 1/2" left of the barrel line and it will clear a DannFL Koi moderator, no problem. I am using a really inexpensive reflex sight from AliExpress and the laser sight is also from AliExpress. The reflex sight will fit both sizes of rails so it fits directly without any adapter to P700SA. The small laser had to be lightly milled with a 60 degree dovetail cutter to mate with the shroud. I bought and tested every sight I could find for this pistol and rejected all but the combination above because of restricted field of view, excessive installed height above the barrel or target view being blocked when shooting at distance using hold over.

Yes that’s true about BC. It’s just the pp700 isn’t the ideal platform to shoot slugs. First the barrel is choked. Which might not affect the slugs accuracy but will lead to a very fast build up of lead around the choke. Second, you have to really crank up the reg and hammer spring to achieve sub optimal power levels. This puts added stress on a gun that wasn’t meant to be a high power slug shooter. Third, slugs are mostly for shooting long distances. At 75 yards and under you won’t see much of a difference between shooting a slug and pellet. With the low power of the pp700 the trajectory at slug distances will be loopy and not able to reap the benefits of the slug. For me, the pp700 is an excellent 50 yard and under pistol. Shooting slugs is a waste of lead
