Help please beginner with a problem

Hi all, 

I recently purchased my first air rifle in the form of a .22 caliber Walther Terrus. Upon receiving it, i was amazed at its beauty and couldn't wait to get started, only problem is, it won't break. for whatever reason i can't get the barrel to break, I have read the manual, gave it to other people to try who have experience with an air rifle, and nothing. The manual says you have to press the barrel break lever then pull down on the barrel, but i cannot find any levers on this gun.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know the Terrus doesn't have a barrel latch. Remove the action from the stock and see if the chisel shaped barrel detent is visible. Try squirting some penetrating lube on it and see if that will free the detent. If you can't get it open, send it back? Don't think I've ever heard of this issue by the way.

If you've had experienced air gunners strike out at trying to open it I'd send it back if possible.

Had the same thing happen,diffrent gun. Hit the barrel with the palm of your hand and continue the cocking of the barrel.I watched a vid on youtube.Only way I can cock the gun.

The Terrus is designed to need a firm tap to commence the cocking process.

I used to have fun with a NP XL 1100. I would hand it too someone and say "see if you can cock this monster" air rifle. It was the same kind of a deal but it was more of a hard hit than a firm tap.

My break barrels are nearly the same. They latch rather snugly, as they need to for a good seal. But I have to give it a little smack to get them started, then cock as normal.

Not only a good seal, but with the barrel pointing in the same direction for accuracy! The firmer the lock-up, the better.
