Help scoping my Atomic XR

Currently I’m running a 15” long Aztec Emerald FFP on the Atomic XR. Way too long, and though I love the reticle, I’m currently looking for a much shorter scope. The Vector Optics Veyron 3-12x44 FFP seems to fit the requirement excepting an IR. Is there a comparable scope in length and size that also has IR? Would love to have IR, I don’’t like the reticles on the new Helos 2-12x, don’t like the red semi circles. So those are out of the running. I’ve tried that type of LPVO and the IR doughnut would obscure too much of the rats or small pests I was after. Suggestions welcome, would love to keep it under $500, better still under $400.

Also if any of you are running the Vector Optics Veyron 3-12x44 FFP what are you impressions of it?

Maybe a LPVO with chevron center?

1. it would be my preference to keep it as light as possible

2. you shoot at direct conditions I assume you would want illuminated reticle for low light conditions

3. how do you hold over using reticle?

i had both vector veyron FFP and SFP but sold both. They aren’t great for hunting because is the really fine reticle and no illumination. Try Discovery HD 3-12 which is similar to veyron but with illuminated reticle. However due to the compact size the field of view isn’t great but you can keep it on lower power for target acquisition. there a good few scopes in the sub 300 range these days that are pretty descent. If you don’t need too much magnification I would look into the immersive 5x prism scope.

MTC also has the Copperhead which is a small scope.

Here is a link to the Atom

The Atom is a fixed power 10x. MTC also makes a prismatic 12x that is a little bigger then the Atom.
I have also used UTG BugBusters, very small scopes, with great success. The BugBusters are cheaper scopes that probably would not be up to others standards, but they work well for me.

Luis,

My recommendation goes out of your budget, but this is the one I'm considering for my compact setup.

I have some nice compact options but I can't record videos with them. I have an immersive optics 15x that I wish I could film with it. If you are not interested in filming that might be a good option, the FOV is amazing!

I tried once one SFWA and the scope is amazing, I know it seems overpriced but I think it's worth every penny.

Mine is the 6-24 Veyron IR, It doesn’t seem to be available in 3-12 from what I see. I’m waiting on a Westhunter side wheel and hoping it’ll fit.

I have the Vector in FFP and no IR. I find the reticle not that great below 6x and particularly bad shooting in the sun while looking into shaded areas. The new IR version would be very useful. It’s a nice scope for the price. I run it on my L2 for the moment.

I also have a 4-16 FFP Sidewinder and I prefer it but it’s a different price tier.
