Help, shoebox compressors issues

My shoebox compressor is pretty much the same as the rest of the Chinese budget compressors and I'm having a reoccurring issue that maybe some of you might be able to help me diagnose.
1. The pump takes a minute or two to pressurize before it starts building air. ( Hose remains unpressurized)
2. When the pump finally starts to build air it will overpressurize to the point I have to stop the compressor or it will blow a burst disc. Once I stop the compressor and restart it it settles in at the pressure of my gun and pumps fine the rest of the day.
Could this be a bad check valve? As I said once pressure starts building it works fine the rest of the day and pumps quickly.

Hello!
First off, is your Shoebox a true Shoebox brand, with the name Shoebox emblazoned on it, or is just a small compressor of a different brand?
There are those that call a small compressor a 'Shoebox' due to its small stature, thus the question.
From your description, it doesn't sound like a true Shoebox being "much the same as the rest of the Chinese budget compressors", so I'm not sure as the Shoebox brand was made in USA.
Please clarify.

Are you calling a compressor a shoebox because it's small or is it the no longer available U.S. made Shoebox brand? I've never heard of a Shoebox doing what yours is doing. A real Shoebox requires a booster compressor for the first stage. Please post a photo of your compressor to clarify so the forum can help with your issue.

Yes, nuoge Chinese compressor similar to all the sub $200 units.
At first I thought maybe the cylinder seals needed replaced and that it required a couple minutes of friction for them to seal. Then I wondered if maybe the check valve was bad because the unit will occasionally over pressurize without filling the gun. When it begins to overpressurize I'll turn the pump off then turn it back on and it settles back down to whatever pressure the gun is currently at. And then continues to fill nicely.

Ask you question about the brand you have. The authentic US Made SHOEBOX guys are thin skinned!

I've been in on these in the past too. Not thin skinned, just don't like misinformation.

To illustrate....can anyone here help me fix a leak in my Daystate Impact? Also, my FX Marauder has a gritty cocking bolt right now-anybody got any ideas?
