Tuning Help with jsar marauder build.... Again🤬

OK guys so hears the issue. I have a marauder 25 cal that I am tuning with the JSAR balanced valve. I have been able to achieve the power I want but not the consistency. I have been told by motorhead that the twin spring system I am using is not the best so I'm looking for a good SSG instead. If you have the war SSG and want to sell it let me know, I will probably be building my own tho. OK so that's the first thing. Now I have a Gen 2 balanced valve and so I plan on using a regulator. This gun is for hunting so all I'm trying to do is get decent consistency. Right now the best it can do is like 5 shots within like 10 fps but then drops like 60fps. Not cool. So if you can recommend a regulator that will be as trouble free as possible I would appreciate it. I would like to avoid drilling a bleed hole if possible because I might be using it in dusty conditions. I have never used a reg tho and this is my first balanced valve so I have no idea which reg would be best. Last is that I'm using the jsar super hammer that does not use the factory striker. When I got it the hammer would not fit in the tube. I had to polish the tube with a cylinder hone and then 1000 grit paper. It is mirror smooth but even then the hammer didn't fit. So I sanded the hammer down for hours and finally it glided in smooth. I thought that lube would not be necessary and even have a negative. That may actually still be true but if it's not true what lube would you guys suggest? I heard powdered graphite may be a good idea. Anyway could you guys recommend a reg, possible lube for hammer and any tips on building an SSG or if you have one you want to sell let me know thanks.

Yeah not a fan of the stiff action. I will probably make an SSG. But with this balanced valve I'm getting over 800fps with 30g pellets at 1800psi. I think if I set it at 1800 I should get 2 or 3 mags before falling off the reg. I wasn't even trying to get a reg but having shots that have almost 100fps differences is not good. I will try to do the oring mod and try to build a SSG but if I do get a reg what reg has the most phlenm space?

I’m running a Lane Mk 9 in my Gen 2 Marauder in .22 with the SS2 valve from JSAR. The Lane breathes via the gauge assembly so no drilling a hole.

I grabbed my tuning notes so I could quote the actual numbers.

The reg is set at 120 bar and I’m using a shortened stock spring (for a very small amount of free flight) and a Hill lightweight hammer at 25 grams. My final tuning string came out to 40 shots on the reg with an ES of 12.5 (1.4%) and a SD of 3.25 (0.37%).

I think I have a very slightly restricted TP (valve=.180-ish/TP=0.160-ish/barrel port=0.180-ish). I think I remember a tip recommending a slight restriction at the transfer port helped the performance of balanced valves.

Those mds nylon can swell slightly with moisture as much 5%

sanding it would likely have embedded the sand grit particles into the nylon and cause friction.

this happened to me with my aluminum air tube, it may not cause a big problem with steel air tube but can still be a source of friction.

Try shining a bright flashlight at an angle and you may see the grit particles embedded

What pellet at what velocity ?

Tossing random numbers miens squat without the total information shared.

Geez scot, I don’t know if your panties are wedged up your crack or you need to switch to decaf but here you go...

JSB Exact Jumbo Heavy Diabolo 18.13 grain at 880 feet per second

Lol .... funny how a simple yet DIRECT statement to the error of shared info is thrown back with so much hostility ..... facts speak volumes, vague references fall flat.

Again ... shooting straight and the panty wedging is well, ELSEWHERE.

Gotta say I agree with Blue on this one. "Simple yet DIRECT"?

Maybe if you had posted just the first line I would agree. The second line was, well, just unnecessary .....and even the incorrect use of "meins" I think added to the "tone".

To the OP - when you researched using the JSAR valve for hunting did you come across any of the "stiction" posts? Wait till you let the gun sit for a while and the 1st shot is 100fps slower. Hope you have the ability to just blow off a shot at the beginning of each hunting trip.

Eventually the striction issues stopped with the gen 1 balanced valve in my Mrod. I just kept shooting and after while valve broke in and has been problem free for years.

It runs regulated or non regulated high fpe, or like I have it now at 42fpe with hades.

Good for you, must be the only one, but not sure how as I'm pretty sure PHYSICS says it won't stop. I guess if you don't chrony it, you won't see it. I'm certain you don't chrony it everyday, right?

Basing it on my chrony numbers taken prior to taking gun hunting, and against the chrony numbers taken prior to checking zero, and often upon returning home from a trip that didn't yield anything.

So while yes I do not run any of my guns over the chrony on a daily basis, I shoot enough to actually know any of my guns tune numbers.

And while your disdain for all things Travis created is noted, I'm satisfied with the performance of the gen 1 balanced valve, and having actually used it since they first went up for sale, I'm offering up my experience with it.

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. That's funny.........unless you're talking the things he "Re-created".

Created as designed and manufactured, then supplied for purchase by people that do not have access to a machine shop to make certain products themselves.

Not to imply that invented anything.

Again its noted your dislike of anything that can be linked to Travis, I've been around here long enough to be aware of it.

Actually I just tested it and even when I shoot a shot after a few mins it's like 40fps less. It's happening every time. I can shoot a mag at fairly close spread but by the time it takes me to reload it shoots like 50fps slower. This is disappointing but at least I know what's going on and I don't have to throw anymore money at it. I'm a little pissed off about this because I was using it for hunting and no I can't just blast one before I shoot at game. Well maybe I can trade it for a hill valve.

raden1942 you can dump all the money you want into a mrod and it will still just be an mrod.how do i know that you may ask?i dumped big bucks into three mrods and found out the hard way.i had up to and over a thousand dollars in each of them,i got smart and sold two of the off for higher end rifle.i really only hunt with my rifles and my kill ratio went way up after getting the higher end rifles.i went to the fx streamline then to the dreamline classic and they shot great right out of the box.yep just fill them and shoot.i use the 25 cal rifles more to hunt with than the 22...the fx rifles are also lighter than mrods so carring them while hunting is much easier...i have only adjusted hammer to get the 25 streamline to shoot the 33.9 jsb's MKII's to shoot 860fps and i get 30 shots on the reg at those settings i selected, shoots lights out every time i pick it up...
