Tuning Help with jsar marauder build.... Again🤬

raden1942 you can dump all the money you want into a mrod and it will still just be an mrod.

Yes, but that's not to say that the Marauder is a poor product as a platform to use as is or modify.

Everything depends on expectations and execution. You can certainly dump as much or more into higher priced platforms and still not find what you are looking for.

I have been very happy with mine and I have probably spent as much or more on modifications as I did to purchase it to begin with.

I wanted to shoot a pellet (not slugs) slightly heavier than the "typical" weight 14.6 grain FTT's I was using and flatten my string while getting the same number of shots and improve accuracy from an already good factory barrel.

I found the modest bump in power I was looking for with the JSAR valve. I was able to get the same number of shots but regulated with a Lane reg, and I was able to improve accuracy with a Gaska MMHF barrel.

If you have realistic expectations, time, money, and intelligence to work toward your goal(s), there's no reason you can't get what you want.

All that being said... it is an older platform and there are certainly newer models from other companies that will allow you to jump ahead and start at a place closer to your goals.

Well for me the journey is more important than the end result. I've learned so much from modding my marauder. I tuned a marauder field and target and got it to be just as accurate at 19.5fpe as pretty much any other gun on the range. Of course a high end gun would be better fit and Finnish and probably cost less in the long run. One day I will have a tier 1 gun but for now I enjoy making cheap stuff shoot as good as I can make them. There is no way I can learn as much by just buying a gun that has it all figured out. I totally understand why you got one. I'll get one too one day. For now having fun playing with what I have.

Actually I just tested it and even when I shoot a shot after a few mins it's like 40fps less. It's happening every time. I can shoot a mag at fairly close spread but by the time it takes me to reload it shoots like 50fps slower. This is disappointing but at least I know what's going on and I don't have to throw anymore money at it. I'm a little pissed off about this because I was using it for hunting and no I can't just blast one before I shoot at game. Well maybe I can trade it for a hill valve.

Having to blow off a first shot to gain accuracy, whether hunting or punching paper, is wholly unacceptable. I have a stiction issue with a balanced valve that I have somewhat fixed with a couple of mods. First was a bit of metal polishing and lubing the o-ring and sliding surfaces with Krytox 205 grease. The other thing that helped is putting harder Urethane o-rings in there. These harder compound o-rings do not tend to stick and deform with age as do the conventional nylon o-ring.
