Sheridan Help with my childhood Sheridan

"You'll want to thoroughly polish the check valve seat with abrasive, to remove all nicks and disruptions."
I'm sure that there are better ways to do this....
I used a .375" wooden dowel with a small piece of wet/dry 220 grit sandpaper glued to one end to clean up that seat. Worked well and fast just turning by hand.

Congrats on that borescope!
I used a dowel with patches and dishwashing liquid with hot water. I wouldn't put any solvents in it. An extended air nozzle with a trigger works well to blow it out.
The only lead in there is the solder that is holding it together.
The lead particles are from the two lead washers that Sheridan and Benjamin used to seal both sides of the valve guide. It can be a slight hassle if lead pieces are present in the threads when trying to reinstall the valve nut, so it's best to do a practice run with the nut before installing the other valve parts. No need for a lead removing solvent.

Thanks, that's my plan for today, go to Home Depot and get some dowels.

It works!

The first 2 pics are the valve surfaces after cleaning up with fine sand paper glued to a dowel and using a drill to turn it slowly.

I did the over night pressure check after getting the valves installed (per video from Notherwestairgun) and it held! (I was so happy)
Then assembled the hammer and trigger parts. It was hard to cock all the way back at first and I cleaned and polished the hammer and that part of the tube a bit more and now it's much better.

The target is a 4 shot group from about 9.5 yards, after some initial sighting in, with 3 pumps.
I think it shoots pretty good, I'm happy!
Not bad for an old guy with bad eyes and open sights, ha.

Thanks for all the help in this thread.

Awesome. 👏
My brother is sitting here and I shared your story with him. We grew up with one of those.
Great pics. 👍
Myself, beerthief, my bro Donald.

Good morning.
Is this the one you are holding in the photo? The one with the partridge front sight?
If it is can you tell me what the numbers are? I can't quite make them out in the photo.

Thanks

Yes I am on the left holding the worn well Bluestreak. The Bluestreak, a 65, with the partridge sight is on the right with my brother Donald holding it.
So I'm pretty sure you're referring to Stan, from Kentucky' Silverstreak it is a newer one.
Stan BTW is beerthief, here in the AGN. I don't know if there are any detailed pics of his Silverstreak. 👍

Yes those numbers are pre-72 date codes.
The year backwards and the months alphabitized
C being March etc.

My apologies. I assumed the gun on the left was a silver streak.

By chance did you replace the barrel? I ask because the guns front sight appears to be a partridge (as apposed to the bs on the right which is a serrated ramp style. The partridge front sight ended early in '64.
