Sheridan Help with Sheridan rehab

Hello I'm Nev. I'm new here and new to (quality) air rifles.

My buddy just gave me his old Sheridan air rifle. Why? He added oil where he shouldn't have, where it says not to, and it got gummed up. He did it because it wasn't holding air and was being too casual and wasn't paying attention. He had it for over 30 years.

Anyhow he bought another Sheridan and gave this to me for a project. I bought an upgrade refresh kit off ebay and got the rifle the other day. Have watched a few videos on the replacing the cup, but some of the other internals look intimidating, including a special tool or something I might be able to improvise a tool with. That'd be for the springs, etc. Anyhow here it is with a new prob at the end:

And here's why the zip tie is there:

Barrel separation. I'm mostly comfortable rehabbing rebuilding myself, taking things apart and putting them back together, but the barrel separation gives me pause. Anyone here know what's possible to get it back to good? Saw some things on the internet, people suggesting JB Weld along with people to send it to. I know it doesn't look it's best, but I'd like to do the most to try and get it right with at least one try. I'd refinish the wood, etc. I'd like to try that before I got DIY with JB weld. Any any advice will be most appreciated!

Thank you.

With that severe barrel/breech separation you're wasting time and money trying to get it to pump up and shoot. Send it to Dennis Baker and let him get it working.
Here?

Worth sending in vs. moving on an getting a new one?

Thanks

My son dropped mine and it landed on the bolt which was open, just perfect, snapping the reciever solder joint like yours. At the time in the eighties, I sent it to Beeman, and the soldered it back to gether, but they did a sloppy job. So recently I sent it to Mac 1 airguns and he said that it wasn't soldered straight and repaired it.
I always had my peep sight offset. Then when I got it back from Tim and rezeroed it the peep was centered for the first time.
