My new to me R8 came in today. The gun is gorgeous. I've seen new guns come out of the box not this nice. Butt pad doesn't look like it's ever seen a shoulder.
Like many old Weihrauchs gun has slight barrel droop and drift. Starboard in this case. Both are unfortunate but fixable. Nothings ever perfect.
I bought this rifle thinking it'd be a perfect blend of my sweetheart Hw30 plinkers and Hw50 size. Picking up the rifle, its more like an under powered Hw50 that feels like an Hw95. Without a scope the R8 weighs the same as my scoped modern Hw50. That's 7.2 lbs on a scale. That's only about 5 ozs lighter than the advertised weight of an unscoped Hw95. If my R8 had rear sight the difference would be even less. The R8 looks about a couple inches longer than my 50.
I'm not a fan of heavier rifles so I'll have to see if this becomes a favorite or a flip. Here's pictures of it naked next to my modern 50 with scope. The rifle is gorgeous so I'm not gonna get hurt if I don't like it. I still haven't shot it yet. I'll have to shoot it a few times to see if I want to invest more money and time into this rifle.
That's it for now.
Be well
Ron.
