Hey Groundhogs, I Accept No Surrender Or Retreat

Every single time I pull up at my rental property, a groundhog is transported to the afterlife! I took out four of these pest today in 10 minutes, and I think I got lucky and got one of the mammas that is responsible for all of these youngins. One thing is for sure, just when I thought the H&N Slug IIs were a tad too much heat due to overpenetration on the young groundhogs, running into a full grown adult today took those stupid words right out of my mouth.

The FX Maverick VP .30cal handled the pesting duties, slinging the 50gr H&N Slug IIs at 930fps. The DonnyFL Ronin kept things quiet, while the ATN X-Sight 5 5-25x LRF handled the Ballistic Calculations and the video recording.

A few of my shots were a tad off, and this is why: I have a nagging problem with my ATN X-Sight 5 scope. Some kind of way, I was able to delete all but one of the factory crosshairs from my scope! I tried recreating the crosshairs in the ATN reticle editor, but none of the reticles I load will persist between power cycles. To make matters worse, my scope always powers on with no reticle at all!!! So my scope is mounted in an ATN QD mount, and I took it off waiting for the RMA form from ATN to arrive in my email for this simple scope repair, but ATN never sent me the RMA authorization. 🤬🤬🤬. I am not happy, and I am going to share my displeasure to all that will hear.

@n21fd Damn. Didn't you go through something like this when the X-Sight 5 first came out?
I did.

Everything was okay, until I tried to install my own reticles. When one of the reticles was messed up, I tried to delete it and ended up deleting most of the factory reticles. I generally only use two, but I created a version of one of them in my N2Shooter colors, so it would be nice to be able to use it. So much for luck.

Now it boots up with no reticle at all, and I have to go and select a reticle every time. If I have the phone app up, I can select other reticles, but I really hate having to deal with my phone and my hunt at the same time. This is one of the chief reasons I have not moved over to Zulus/One Leaf as you need to have the Ballistics App in order to use it.

It looks like I need to just call ATN back tomorrow and apply some pressure. I really hate to go without my scope, as this groundhog problem will explode if I am not diligent. And this video didn't even included the two I shot yesterday.

I guess I can pop on my X-Sight 4K Pro in the interim, but my state range is closed for upgrades and I really don't have a proper place to sight in.

@N2 Shooter That sounds like a PITA. Good luck with that one. Why not mount an older ATN until the X-Sight 5 gets repaired?
I would, but I don't have anywhere to really sight it in. I can't setup a true horizontal 25 yard target, as I'm shooting from a window. Maybe I'll just zero at 10 yards in my basement.
Hi
I like your videos.
Do you use superior or heavy liner with those H&n's?
They work great in my Uragan.
Regards Marko
Thanks a bunch!

I am using the STX Superior Liner that's stock with the FX Maverick VP.

Hope they take care of that quickly
