Hello everyone,

New here , just wanted to introduce myself.

I’m Paul—classic spring-powered airgun lover and pest controller from the charming countryside of Somerset, England. This looks like an awesome forum.

Had my fair share of PCPs but they never really sparked my passion for shooting like spring or gas powered rifles do :) I wrote about it here (y)

@Paul Be Careful - Welcome to AGN. There are a lot of springer shooters here. Lots of good information and some eye candy.

I am breaking in my new HW98 as I type, great way to play hooky on a Friday afternoon.

Welcome!! I miss the West Country and its good Cider and cheddar. I went to Bath Uni and played for Stothert and Pitt RFC just outside of Bath.

I used to bring my Benjamin 392AS over but eventually bought a BSA Lightning from the gun shop that used to be in downtown Bath. Id shoot rats at the club and other pests.

I’ve got several PCP’s, but I still prefer springers and if I were limited to 12 fpe I doubt I’d have any PCP’s at all. At that power level they just don’t give you that big of an advantage. At 30 fpe on the other hand it’s night and day and if you want to go past that then they’re your only option.

Thanks, and wow, that's amazing! I bet Stothert and Pitt RFC permissions are highly coveted these days. When did this happen?

Haha, I’m curious—what UK crime shows are a hit over there? I once owned a gas piston rifle that’s the mother of them all i believe: a Theoben Sirocco Countryman. I lent it to a friend many years ago, who sadly passed away, so I never got it back. I didn’t have the heart to ask for it. What’s your top pick for a replacement? And thanks for the warm welcome!

This was back in 04-08. One of the old boys asked me if I liked to pest since I was American and I obliged them lol. I still have the Lightning but it sports a Spitfire barrel, super accurate. Ya, it was a nice spot, right off the Avon was productive. I also recall the farmer and his combine harvester out there often and Id have the Wurzels playing in my head.

I missed going to the gun shops in the UK. So many cool airguns we don't see over here. May favourite was DAi Leisure in Birmingham, to this day it's the coolest shop I've ever been in. Had everything from RC cars, cycling stuff and a big selection of nice airguns.

Solid point! I do have air rifles on my FAC, but to be honest, I’m not up for all the tuning and slug testing needed to get them up to par with my rimfires. Just talking general hunting accuracy here, of course.
