I have been following the Powder Coated Bullet crowd over at CastBoolits.com. Came across a mention of a different product over at higharchunter.com.
He uses something he calls Arizona Black Gold coating for bullets and makes a statement that the coating was applied to JSB pellets with no change in accuracy and NO barrel leading!
This of course tweaked my curiosity and an internet search was in order. What I found was the title of this thread. It is a dry powder / catalyst mixture that is mixed with acetone and applied to the bullets / pellets in 3 separate coats.
Each coat is applied, air dried then baked at 385 to 400 degrees. 3 coats adds a very thin layer to the projectile.
The coating if properly applied is both solvent proof and crush proof (won't flake off even if the projectile is smashed with a hammer or in the case of bullets won't flake off when sized).
As an added bonus the coating reduces friction between barrel and projectile which translates to better velocities at the same air pressure.
I just got mine in and have not had a chance to try it out yet.
Has anyone else here heard of this "Magic Pixie Dust" and if so have you tried it? What were your results? I am pretty excited about the potential for all projectiles coated with this "stuff"!
