Hickory NC airgun show update

Gents, I traded notes with Tony McDaniel this week and was happy to learn the Hickory show is still on for Friday November 1, and Saturday November 2. This is in spite of the violent flood damage to western North Carolina and east Tennessee from hurricane Helene, which is almost beyond belief.

Hickory is on Interstate 40, located east of the worst stuff, BUT I-40 and I-26 are closed west of Asheville NC and won't be back anytime soon, with sections heavily damaged and bridges destroyed. And the NC Dept of Transportation simply says to consider all smaller roads in that part of NC closed.

So if you plan to come, definitely keep an eye on usable routes! (From Knoxville TN, for example, I will likely loop north via I-81 and I-77, then hit I-40 east of Hickory.)

MDriskill:

We hope to see you there if all goes well!

Thanks, I am planning on it.

I would add that if anyone has friends in the affected areas, you might wanna try getting in touch. If you haven't been watching the news the destruction is incredible. Asheville is cut off with tremendous damage and no real road access. Many surrounding communities have no roads, power, water, or internet. A lot of homes and other buildings simply vanished and many people are still unaccounted for.

Hickory is an hour + east of Asheville. I live 30 minutes north of Hickory. The storm caused very little problems in Hickory. My son and his family live in Hickory very near the fairgrounds where the show is held . Their neighbor had a couple of small trees fall into my son's yard but they never lost electricity.
There is a weekly flea market held every Thursday at the fair grounds and I've heard that the flea market was canceled for the whole month of October because the fairgrounds is being used as a drop-off point for donations. I wonder if the November 1& 2 airgun show will be affected?
Those who will be traveling far should stay informed. It's about a 40 minute drive for me.
The fairgrounds/show site is about a 5 minute drive from I-40 exit 128.

Reviving this as I am still catching up with both work and personal stuff... I'm in a little town outside of Asheville that was absolutely hammered. I got power back a couple weeks ago and internet back this past Sunday. I noted a few folks had reached out on this forum and over my phone expressing concern. I was humbled by the outreach... and leave it to MDriskill to post something like this above. You, sir... have always been a class act.
I'll be at the show tomorrow. I'm all packed up!

I went to the show today. Here's a sample of what I saw.
The best part for me was meeting and talking with Shane Bruce from Restomod Daisy on YouTube. And I bought the missing parts for my Crosman 1077.

I went to the show Friday, but couldn't make it Saturday. I sold one rifle, but made a deal with myself before the show that I would come home with less than I left with, so I resisted the urge to purchase anything. I was hoping to sell 2 or 3, and come home with something new(to me), and still be down one, or two. I saw a cute little Fortitude I thought I might try and make a trade on, but it was gone when I went back to check. I was actually kind of relieved 😅.

If you are on here, and bought my Nova Liberty, PM me, and I'll send you the manual, I also found another mag I didn't realize I had.

It was a good show, I'll go next year if life allows it.
