When browsing the classified ads, I came upon an item I was interested in. I wasn't familiar with the seller so, I clicked on their avatar to check out the feedback as well as several posts. What I got was this :

This is a red flag to me. If you wish to do business on a public forum , members might want to vet you before sending money. Just my 2 cents worth and ya get what ya pay fer.

Log out of your account and then click on the link. If it shows up, the seller most likely has you blocked.

Every member has the option to limit the public information displayed under their profile.
I agree 100 %. Everyone should have the right to remain anonymous if they choose. My point was that if you are selling items, perhaps you should be a little more accessible as to your posts and feedback. In the past I have seen items for sale by a member, only to see their posts from a month earlier asking for help with this or that and next thing you know.............." I hate to let it go, shoots cloverleaf groups at 100 yards, loves any pellet, almost shoots itself". If I haven't dealt with this particular individual, I want to see their feedback as well as posts. When that is not possible, it's time to move on and ignore the ad.
OK, rant over, I'm getting off my soapbox now.

Well, while they are entitled to withhold information about themselves, which I have NO issue with, said members do need to understand that while attempting to sell merchandise they need to be forthcoming in PM sections probably accompanied with a phone call or two. They also must not be too demanding on methods of payment either, buyer will do what they are comfortable with. That's why there are reputations and feedback is very important.

I think you could still search for their posts by member. Then you should know if it's a real member or a scam account, at least. Or if, as you suggested, they might have been complaining about the same gun they're now trying to unload on another member.

I don't have any identifying info in my profile, but I leave it "public" mainly because it shows good marketplace feedback.
