High power big caliber airguns

Do any of you ever worry that with the increase in power and caliber that airguns will be more on the radar to be regulated? I know how liberals operate and even though I've not heard of a single case of problems, the could, and in some States, already are limited as to who can buy what.
Just curious as to where you all see this going. I just saw an ad for the new FX King and the power levels are way up there.

Airguns are not firearms. BATFE regulates, among other things, firearms.

Airguns are potentially dangerous. They could be regulated as dangerous consumer products.

However, the community needs to behave responsibly, promote healthy marksmanship and hunting behavior and generally do things that support the fun side of the hobby and not succumb to "political anxiety".

There are a whole lot of very lethal and virtually unregulated weapons out there of which airguns are only a small fraction. Muzzleloaders for example. You can order a black powder revolver through the mail no questions asked. Crossbows and modern archery equipment will also put most airguns to shame. You can even order flamethrowers online.

So maybe they will try and regulate airguns at some point, they did it with switchblades and butterfly knives, but I'm not particularly worried about it.

Yes it is coming. The advances in that arena are nothing short of astounding. However, the sustainable firepower is still far away from centerfire cartridges. Going to war with a Pre-Charged Pneumatic (PCP) rifle would be like going off-roading in a Prius instead of an F-150.

Agreed, the specifications for the newer stuff are amazing.

PCP guns are coming out that are getting into the 3-400 ft. lb. range with calibers from .25 to .50 or more.

They should be endlessly appealing to the prepper. All you need is lead, a cast, hopefully a swage, and a hand pump at the minimum and you are hunting. In the last go-round, lead bullets alone were much easier to get than primers and powder.

They are really neat and have grown in offerings by leaps and bounds. It's only a matter of time or a news headline before they are restricted to one degree or another. Also worth noting is they are outside the NFA. Certain models are available with all the goodies.

but they probably won't hit the Manhole cover on the 500 yard highest hill on Spenceville Public open range in Roseville , Ca, 100 miles fro the Bay Area

it was given to the Public by Beale air force base where the SR71 Blackbird was kept

people come here to sight in their Weatherby before flying back to Michigan to shoot deer

I pretty much have to hold my 22 caliber Winnie at 45 degrees to hit the manhole cover and make it ring thru-out the valley

people also come here to shoot their cannon at 55 gallon plastic barrels from their truck bed
Spenceville is not in Roseville. It is closer to Wheatland and even closer to Camp Far West Lake. That is all lol. Have fun.
