High power infrared illuminators

Does anyone use high power infrared illuminators to get less grainy videos? All webcams with built in IR only use a few watts at best to conserve battery power so the videos recorded use very large luminescent gains leading to noisy recordings. You can buy or build much more powerful lights with over +20 watts Of course this is only practical for stationary use. Too large and heavy to mount on a gun. Also good for night time target practice .

For short-range work the "moonlight" i.e. lowest-power mode is perfect. But you can easily reach out 1km with it on higher power modes.
