highest power scope..

The mirage is probably horrific I would think. It's kinda unavoidable with that much magnification. I guess it depends on the application. kevin
March Optics makes a great product, so bad mirage would probably more depend on the day's weather conditions rather than the glass at full power.

Yeah, their multiple ED glass elements cut down on aberrations and mirage. But mirage can be your friend if you know how to read it. I have a 45X fixed focus March with ED and it's wonderful.

My friend shoots at maximum magnification always. Sometimes he hooks it up with a scope cam and computer monitor and shoots using the screen and a remote trigger. Doing that I don't remember any times where mirage was significant.

I shoot rimfire with a March 48x fixed. The first time I used it I was severely disappointed with the image quality - until I realized I was seeing mirage where I hadn't seen mirage before (because my scopes topped out 24x or 25x). Anyway seeing a little mirage is normal with that level of magnification. With an 8-80 you can set it to 8 or 12 and make the mirage invisible if it really bothers you. I'd rather see some passing mirage and keep the magnification.

There are those who compare scopes for how well they show image through mirage. To do that you need several similar scopes on the same line at the same time. I don't have firsthand experience with that, but March optics do have a good reputation among shooters who have made those comparisons.
