Bought my first PCP in June this summer, with a Hill MK2 spartan to charge it. Worked good until a month ago, when it seized up. Turns out the little O-ring on the pump head was got borked. Ok, fair enough, maybe I shouldn't have charged my 0.8L airsoft HPA tank with it. So, me orders a seal kit for the MK2, which of course doesn't fit because the MK2 spartan is a different pump. So, I have my shop order a bunch of the correct pump head O-rings (06R00574 anno November 2022, for those looking for a part number) and order a Hill MK5 because after the whole debacle I don't want to be caught out without a functional pump in the future.
And what do you know, not 6 days after it comes in it too poops the bed with exactly the same issue! Made sure it never got warmer than "this is still comfortable to hold", so taking 10 minute breaks after 75 pumps, give or take. It was also properly lubricated after about two days (.177 bb-sized dot of their own brand grease on the inner shaft, spread around evenly). €500 worth of over-engineered bicycle pumps, service kits and hours spent dealing with customer service later I'm still down one fill source for my MK3. Borrowing an FX 4-stage turbo from a friend in the meantime, and that's chooching along just fine.
I don't run into a whole lot of moaning about Hill on the internet, they don't sell re-branded chinesium and they seem at least halfway competent people when you give them a call. Has anyone had similar issues with Hill handpumps or am I just a statistical anomaly?
