RAW Rapid HM1000X External Plenum

I have a new HM1000X in .22 and I'm looking for some "low hanging fruit" mods to make it a bit more efficient and maybe provide a boost in power if it helps accuracy at longer ranges. From reading all the RAW posts, external plenum and ssg's have been mentioned often. I haven't been able to find any specific plans or an off the shelf ssg to add. I have seen this external plenum mentioned and it is available to purchase.

Couple questions....has anyone tried this plenum from Kinetic Security Solutions? What sort of performance or efficiency advantages would this provide over the stock setup?

Any other suggestions on easy and not too expensive modifications to improve the RAW?

I greatly appreciate any advice on this.

Yeah they work great. I am able to push the 218 30grain slugs over 950 fps with the additional plenum size. Just know it does push your bottle out there a bit, and in the MPA chassis you loose the front picatinny block
My .22cal RAW shoots 32.3gr Altaros slugs at 910 with only 160bar and a little chamber extender above the regulator. I also enlarged the transfer port in the stock LW barrel to reduce back pressure. It shoots 1 MOA groups at 100 and 200yds if I do my part.

I use the KSS plenum on my .25cal Extreme FT HM1000X to push 34gr pellets at 930fps with only 145bar and I think that may be a little high. My goal with all of my tunes is to keep the shot cycle as smooth as possible so that the gun doesn't jump and throw off my POI, and I do this by keeping the regulator pressure low. If your ES ends up being about 10fps or less, then you have the regulator pressure, hammer spring and pellet weight in balance.

KSS plenum is a nice addition if you are looking for power with a reasonable regulator pressure. You'll get more power over the stock setup with a plenum, but you will need to balance that with other changes to the hammer spring and hammer, and perhaps a few other things.

Really, if you aren't looking for power, shoot the RAW the way it was delivered with 25.4gr pellets at 930fps and revel in the incredible accuracy.

Thanks for the replies. My gun is the LRT version in laminate stock. It shoots the 25.4 mrd at 930 as came from the factory. Reg is around 145 bar I believe. If I didn't change the reg pressure or make any hammer spring adjustments, what effect would adding this plenum have? Would the velocity increase? Would I get more or less shots per fill?

If installing this plenum gave me an extra 25 fps and the shot count stayed relatively the same, I think it would be worth adding. Of course as Cloud9AG said, maybe I should just leave well enough alone and enjoy shooting this wonderful airgun as is.....

You are correct about the factory settings.
As far as just adding the plenum, you should get some more speed but not sure just how much because I haven’t done that test before. Usually I’m lowering the reg pressure for a softer cycle and more shots or I’m going for more power so my reg is set above what yours is currently. You won’t get more shots because you’re not increasing the bottle volume ( you may get less).
The 25.4gr pellets are most accurate out of the RAW HM1000X at 930fps so if you are shooting those pellets, no need to change.

Bhaur, Sir, we need two of your vertical power boosters ( 35 cc ) for the older Raw TM1000x. I believe the threads are smaller than the new HM series. My e-mail : [email protected] Thank you for any help on this. Doug

Some groups of different 30 grain slugs. The second page is at 100 yards and I was fine tuning velocities. The last picture is of a full magazine at 50 yards of the H&N, JAVELIN, AND CORBIN 218 30grain slugs. Then moved to 100 yards and produced the group shown. The red x was my sighter, adjusted scope and sent 3 rounds. I had another page that produced the same group with all three ammo selections.

The 30 grain slugs were going 950 fps!

To say I am happy is an understatement!!

The increase in plenum, and addition of the Huma Regulator, has made this gun shoot much better. Feels like I cam finally reach the potential of the rifle.

Wonderful long range with slugs thru your RAW! 🤗 That takes a lot of hard work but well it by your results!
