RAW Rapid HM1000x honeymoon

Thought I'd share my notes...

I'm in the honeymoon period with the .22 caliber HM1000x I got just before winter hit and we are just getting to know each other.

The HM1000x was too much gun to be shooting indoors so today's calm, 50 F weather had me at the shooting bench for the first time in 3 months. 😁

During the initial acceptance testing the PCP preformed well averaging 955 fps for 51.5 fpe with JSB Monster Redesigned pellets.

Ergonomically I found the grip to be too small for my hand, the stock too short and the trigger too light.

I swapped the grip for a larger commercial one which will do until I can make a custom one.

The spacer I made (picture attached) gives me a 13.5 to 15 inch adjustment range for the LOP.

The trigger settled in nicely. I suspect that grease on the trigger needed to be displaced (that's what it felt like was happening) because after a bit of use, the 1st stage smoothed out and the distinction between the 1st and 2nd stages became much clearer. The trigger was factory set at 3.5 ounces which I increased to 6.5 ounces.

I really think that RAW should consider shipping the HM1000x with the trigger set a bit heavier and let the customer adjust it down if they prefer. I'm used to the light triggers on my 10 meter target guns but not everyone can shoot a 3.5 ounce trigger safety.

I'm getting 36 shots from a 230 bar fill then the HM1000x falls off the regulator at 150 bar. I'm considering swapping the 480 cc bottle with the 700 cc bottle from my Panthera to increase the shot count a bit.

Hope this is of interest.
Cheers!

I have a .25 and a .30 HM1000X and consider them to be among the best air rifles on the market! I replaced the tactical stock on the .25 with a Masterpiece Arms rig and love it. I agree that the grip is too small on the stock rig. I bought the .30 with the laminated stock thinking I just might not like it but actually do like it very much. Welcome to R.A.W. - you're going to love being here!

Have you tried filling to 250 bar if it's newer raw id fill to 3500 psi would gain you few more as long as the bottle pressure is 250 working bar pressure

So far I agree with everything but the trigger. Mine was set to 4-5 ounces and is just the way I like it for bench target shooting. I went with the 700cc bottle and a few other additions. I also use a March High Master target scope.

I have the same Marksman 700cc, 300 bar bottle.

What pressure are you running your HM1000x at rsfrid?

My Users Manuel says 230 bar for the 480cc bottle.

Congratulations! Enjoy shooting it! Like Airgunman said above...I fill mine to 250 bar. I detuned mine to shoot 18gr pellets @ 970fps and NSA 17.5gr slugs @ 950fps and get 70-80 shots, mine is a .22 also.
I'm planing on trying slugs as an experiment.

I've a couple of PCPs tuned to 16 & 18 grain pellets for sub-60 yard work.

Was thinking of keeping the HM1000x tuned for heavier projectiles and try some 100 yards bench shooting.
