Hoarding AMMO-here we go again

After sandyhook I went through the insanity of the ammo shortage for firearms. My shooting once a week became once every three months because you couldn't replace the ammo you shot up and if you could, the prices were 3X what they should have been even at retail sellers like Wal-mart or Cabelas. I can remember standing in line daily before work at walmart hoping they got 22 shells in or 223 rounds in.... it was a joke..... HERE WE GO AGAIN.... it's sandyhook all over again... ammuniton sold out everywhere and people hoarding more rounds they they could ever fire even in a war.....

I'm so thankful I found this hobby and PCP airguns a couple years ago... I'm not worried about folks hoarding pellets or slugs and I can continue to shoot daily.... yet another adavantage of the air gun game!!!

HUH you were disadvantaged because 26 people were murdered, oh you poor thing and now now the virus is doing the same thing

I don't think the OP is insensitive to the 26 people that were killed or the coronavirus, at least that is not the message I got anyway. I think the thing is he is trying to get across is that fear causes hoarding. The fear of having guns taken to the fear of running out of toilet paper to the hand sanitizer being all bought. The virus caused the fear that caused the hoarding. Honestly I know of many guys that got into air guns during the last ammo shortage and I don't think they were insensitive. I honestly believe that he is just saying he is thankful to have airguns to pass the time. Actually, so am I.

I get what he is saying, but it could have been worded a little differently as everyone can see it differently.

If we have to worry about someone being offended by what we post when there is nothing profane or offensive said, we would never be able to post Some people look for any reason to be offended. Grow up or go away. We finally got rid of the red ball back stabbing hidden behind keyboard girl club, now some of them are using multiple flag posts to lock users out of their accounts. Like the song says “Go away little girl”.

I'm happy to see some of the posts on the thread got cleaned up, but the initial evidence of someone getting offended is clear in the quotes. I have to agree with the others here - there was no offense taken at all by the OP with regards to what happened in Newtown, CT. And, it is likely I am more likely to get readily more offended by posts reflecting that shooting as I lived 10 minutes away from where it happened at the time. I lived the aftermath, I talked to those who lost children, I wish there was a way I could've helped - but how do you help people and a town heal from somethings like that outside of time.

As a few mentioned everyone is just looking some reason to get offended. Seriously get a backbone and a set of balls. I'm 45 now and when I was in Little League I got a 'participation trophy'. And you know what I did - I threw it in the garbage as even at the age of 7 or 8 I knew it was complete bs. I wasn't that good and the kids who were got the trophies they earned and deserved.

I'll get off my soapbox now.

IMO there is an ever so subtle difference between stocking up and hoarding. If you buy a bunch of ammo when there is nothing major going on in the world - it's stocking up. If you impulsively run out and buy everything you can find of an item when a major event is predicted or has just occurred - it's hoarding.

If you don't agree with the above, then you must watch Jerry Miculek's videos, see all the shelves of ammo he has behind him and think to yourself he is a hoarder.
