Hog Hunting with Airgun

So do people use airgun for hog hunting? I have some pretty big hog traveling through the conservation area at the end of the yard and I often wonder is a quiet airgun would take these out! We bow hunt so that would be quiet enough to dispatch them but they do howl a lot when hit!

This is the thing. Big bore high powered airguns are loud. Really loud! Like hearing protecting loud!

As you can see my 200 fpe Bulldog .357s have suppressors on them to tame these beast. If you get a Texan or Hammer or Something, make certain to budget a Suppressor into the equation.

That's some serious setup right there.

@ezmuzic Yes they do. Ask this guy @AirArcher66 he’s killed plenty and with arrows from airguns. Check out one of his threads

@AncientSword is another member to ask about this topic. Here’s one of his threads

In fact if you use the AGN search function and type keywords “hog hunt” there should be plenty of threads that pop up on the topic with members using various types and calibers of airguns.

Not a problem........with the right shot placement a solid .25 .30 or even .22 as long you do everithing right and put that pellet in the brain they will go down without a sound or a step.

But once again you really need to do your research in how and where to put that pellet.

Here is a perfect example of patience until the shot presents itself.

This guy is a solid Boar and i was using an Evanix .25 shooting 28gr Benjamin pellets in the 55-60 FPE range,

for a good 10 minutes he was not giving me the shot ( to much of an angle on the side brain shot ) then he changed position and finally gave me a perfect square brain shot and at that point the pellet was on its way to the precise spot chosen.

Superb shot placement and that was one big hog.
Thanks, yup that was a solid muscular boar.

Shot placement is paramount, you don't really need tht much power if the shot is in the right place.

Check out this young but not so small boar at all go down with a Baracuda .177 shot from a Disco at 17 FPE

That is incredible. Both of those porkers got parked instantly. Where are you hitting them? I can’t quite tell from the video.
Yup incredible and something that if you tell outsidethe airgun world most will call you a lier.

Equidistant on a line between the eye and the ear,....when I get back from work I pull up some pictures with the spot shown, I might even pull up a bunch more Big boars taken with small cslibers airguns
