Hogs boar hunting cal.25

I would like some information from you experienced hunters .... which cal. 25 pellet is more effective and lethal for head shooting on wild boars? having pcp rifle approximate power 40/45 fpe ... better to use jsb heavy, apolo domed copper or h & n hornet, or jsb Polymag? someone used them apolo domed copper do I hope to receive an exhaustive opinion for each one of the mentioned pellets? thank you all. mike U.E.

thank you for answering.
I had sensed that a larger caliber is more efficient.
but since I already have a PCP cal. 25 ..... I would like to try with shots limited to 25y max 30y ...
(just shots to the brain)
I would like to have an opinion from you expert hunters ....
better a heavy jsb or apolo domed copper (about 33 grain) or a H&N Hornet (lighter but with a brass tip) ??
Thank you

A .25 is plenty to kill a hog with a good brain shot. Like was mentioned earlier, avoid an expanding pellet. Use a pellet with harder lead like Benjamin, H&N, or JSB (latest testing I read).
Info comes from Manny P. ( Nomadic Pirate) who has killed many hogs with Airguns. He prefers a straight on shot between the eyes if the head is down only. Otherwise between the eye and ear.
A well placed shot to the vitals, placed low with a .25 over 60 fpe can do the job as well, but not as reliable as the brain, obviously.
I still prefer a larger caliber if it’s available but wouldn’t hesitate to use a .22 or .25 60 fpe +. We’ve killed ours with .40 and .45 cal body, neck and head shots.

You are going to wound a lot of animals. The first rule of hunting is always have more power on tap than is required to harvest the animal you are after. You are trying to shoot a target that can move at any moment, even if it’s just a little bit. You must have some wiggle room power wise to allow for a less than perfect shot. Airgunners are the worst group I have ever seen for being irresponsible when it comes to hunting. At least the guys in the firearm world that are shooting beyond their abilities have enough power on tap with their weapon of choice to still kill the animal with a marginal hit. I wish guys would stop relying on perfect hits to effectively kill something with their plainly inadequate airgun. It going to bite us some day.
