Hollowpoint Skiving/Serration on Slugs

Unless you’re dead set on swaging, casting could be a much cheaper alternative. Small calibers can be a bit tedious to get your temps/fill out perfect but can be done. Here is an example of a converted mold where the pin/hollow is an odd shape. One could use a torx bit instead.

Here's my bullets I cast from a NOE 460-315-RF 2 cavity mold shooting from my 457 Texan at 25 yards I dug them from the range backstop I use a 2 to 1 mix of pure lead to wheel weights lead.

Not sure what you mean by "will it be okay"
It's not going to damage your rifle, but depending on how you modify the slug it might deform it slightly which WILL effect accuracy.

"Will it be okay" because what happens is that slugs with large hollow point are light and do not have the BC to go long distances like 80 + yards. So people expecting accuracy at such distances will be disappointed. We make custom dies and tooling as well but gentlemen we have to be realistic in the application. On the contrary a heavy slug with a small size torx head style hollow point will be equally effective because it carries more downrange energy as opposed to a light and large hollow point with a torx head style.

I cast bullets, but shoot very little (no real place to shoot here) but I have used acorn type nuts in the bottom of my mold to create the hollow point. Unfortunately I've never got the chance to shoot them. I figured I'd just throw it out there.

Those look great and seem to expand nicely, I'm hoping to make some that have even more expansion.
I hope Longshot chimes in about the dies he purchased from Corbin for swaging some that basically explode upon contact.

Someone had posted a mold that might allow a torx head bit to be inserted into the meplat for a very consistent result

Okay I see what you're saying. The torx bits that I used didn't deform the exterior of the slug, and didn't change the ogive. So they SHOULD carry the same BC and accuracy. They are also not removing any material so they're even the same weight.
