Home made moderator

Hello, I just wanted to show the suppressor I made with a can. Or should I say I made a “can” out of a can. Inside the actual can I used a 3d printer to make baffles that would fit inside the can snugly. Then, after filling the can with about 7 of them I created a part that would connect to the end of the barrel of my qb78. Then I glued and taped it together for the time being. I also have yet to come up with a solution for the end cap.

This is a work and progress and my first attempt at anything like this but after testing it I can say it works. For the cosmetics, durability, and physics of it, I know it has a long way to go. Tinkercad is my best friend.

When I was 15 or so (20 years ago) my dad and I made one for my 880 out of a hand-made wooden barrel insert, pvc piping, cap, steel wool, hardware cloth, and a clamp for the barrel attachment. Dead silent.

A 3d printer is super useful for making these. Being able to form those cone baffles is probably the most useful bit. That and various adapters

How well does it work? Mouse fart?

I never used Tinkercad. I struggled with Fusion360, a PITA to use at 1st, but now that I'am getting the hang of it I find it useful.
You can print the whole thing as one part with threading too if you spend the time on cad.
I know I can print it all together but I just wanted to try using the tin can.

I printed another moderator in one peice but I thought it would be cooler to make one that I assembled as apposed to print info in one go.

As for effectiveness, it could be better but this was my fist attempt. The qb78 is pretty Loud but with the moderator on I can say that it’s not snappy. I haven’t really done any specific accuracy testing yet but I can say it hits where I aim from what I can tell.

I usually just go to aliexpress and search for oil filter, solvent filter or NAPA 4003 WIX. Many different car parts to choose from :D
Guess suppressor rules are different in the US, you need to buy some stamps or something.
In Finland you are free to own them for airguns with the restriction that you actually have to be able to install it on the airgun.

I could do that but I just like to make use of my 3d printer. I got It a while back and figured I could make some cool stuff. Where I am in the U.S., firearm suppressors and airgun suppressors are in different realms at the moment.

I hope to visit your country some day. You must be very proud to live in such a spectacularly beautiful place.

How does the plastic hold up to shots? I would expect the buffers to tear and break?

Beautiful country full of drunk depressed assholes...🥶

I love those drinks. I buy them in big boxes of like 40 when I run out. They are great for plinking too.(the empty cans, the juice is just too good to waste.)
I like them better than the usual lemonade, for sure. Wife has a tree and squeezes and freezes the whole lot for sinigang and other recipes.

a lot of people don't like calamansi but I like them a lot. I just planted a tree recently but it's fairly difficult to grow anything citrus well in Florida without an assortment of chemicals.
