Home Range Yardage Markers

How do you mark your yardage on your range?

I've changed out my yardage markers on my backyard range. I shoot airgun off my patio straight back 60 yards. I'm always moving my spinner racks around. Previously I've used tent stakes as yardage markers.

My son is a welder/fabricator and frequently cuts out 3" circles out of 3/4" steel plate. Back in the day my father did contract work for Southern Railroad and over the years collected cases of new spikes a screw spikes. I had my son weld screw spikes to the those circles.

I drove these down ground level every 5 yards starting at 20yds out to 60yds.

I used a 12# sledgehammer and hammered them down to ground level. I used 1/4" number punches to mark the yardage just for giggles.

I used a 300' measuring tape to precisely measure the distance. I have a half dollar size circle spray painted on my patio for a reference.

I sight my rifles in for pesting and record dope every 5 yards from 10 to 50 yards.
I used to use 18” long 1/4” diameter fiberglas rods and a laser rangefinder to locate the increments. I have a 150’ tape but I’m not keen on laying it on wet grass and it getting moldy or faded from storing it wet and didn’t care to have to unreel it all to dry it at home. So I bought a zillion foot long spool of dayglo orange 550 paracord and tied a loop on the shooting bench end to attach on an eyehook. Then I tied a figure of eight knot ten yards out and then every five yards till 45 yards. I didn’t have to go to fifty yards because the club has a backer at fifty yards. I made a quick and dirty spool that’s about 12” in diameter so winding goes very fast. The paracord holds the distances accurate enough for my purposes. I’m not Bob Lee Swagger from Shooter.
I just walk and let the line spool out withno discernable stretch.
I also black Sharpied the knots so they show up better for when I’m moving my target holder from knot to knot.

That's awesome (y) to answer your question: I have a diy pellet trap set up in my garage (23 feet). I use to have 2.5 acres and made the mistake of moving into a "subdivision". Looking for some property to get away from this madness, but they stop making it and its very difficult to find that "right" piece of land:unsure:
I understand. My daughter lives in east Memphis, 1/2 corner lot and when I visit I can't shoot at all.
