Homemade BiPod rest

I have said in the past that I enjoy tinkering out in the shop as much as shooting. Here is my latest. I have bought a couple bipods at sportsman ware house that were pretty lousy or have broke on me. I started using one of my tripods with one leg removed. And have made a couple rests. Here is the latest I am trying.

I like it. I don't do metal, but could just a block of wood with a nut added. Great idea!

I like it. I like to make what I need even when I might have money to buy it, I have made a couple tripods like this. They where all I used for a few months,

Is there an advantage to just having two legs? If so I have more work to do.

Great Minds Think Alike. I also like to try to make stuff rather than buy it. I made a couple different rest for my tripods. These are not hands free. But they will assist in steadying your gun. These fit the camera mount on standard tripods

I like that. Is it wood? Making things in the shop isn't about saving money most of the time. I made a quadrant target, if I was getting paid an hourly wage it was not a smart project. But just something to do that I enjoy. Here was my first tripod rest. It's from a boat trailer.

I’ve found making things that my not save me money. Has taught me skills that has allowed me to make things / parts that are no longer available. I’m a bit of a hobby machinist. The material I used is Delrin. The rest on the short tripod was the first one I made. Its got multiple parts. The last ones I made are just two parts. 
Im always on the lookout for a high quality but used and cheap camera tripods.
