Homemade cheek rest for Taipan Veteran

Hey guys,

That is my version of the cheek piece. It is a3D printed part. The magnets are holding on the screws. The front part hold by clipping on the barrel. Just CAD pics for now. I should have the parts mounted by tomorrow night when I get home.

I also made some magazine holders using Bizill's ideas.

I've used Insta-morph, and it can be cut and sanded.

Speaking of personal production of turds...I once shut down a convenience store restroom on my way home from Texas one year. I dropped one that resembled a juvenile Burmese python in their restroom bowl...it was so big that I swear you could see tiny eyes beginning to form at the large end!!! Anyway, a few minutes after I staggered out of that room, feeling like a woman does...just after giving birth...I noted the manager hanging a sign on the door "Out Of Order"!

I'm not saying it was my proudest moment, but it was a "personal best" event in my life of 76 years. Sometimes we have to take what little pride we can find, as we venture along the treacherous road of life!

I’m going to follow up on this post. I’ve ditched the insta morph turd that I made, was really too high for a good cheek weld. Bought the foam from hoptic that kthomas mentioned and the stuff from Amazon that Michael shared. Basically the same stuff but the product from hoptic USA seems to have slightly better glue imo, but it’s way more expensive. I used the hoptic foam on a few guns and used the Amazon foam on a couple others, you can’t tell the difference, works like a charm.

Yeah after that famous Darlin hoot owl pie and the bread,taters and meat a guy could lay a bigun. Just seen that episode. I’m sticking with the 3D printed one for now.

Sense when do MAGNETS stick to aluminum ?

Simpler is just attaching some FUZZY side velcro where your face rests on the receiver. ... IMO

I like this option also, probably got the idea from you. Unless you need more height, this works great, never moves or gets knocked off.

Maybe Insta morph and a rolling pin from the kitchen , make thin layers and build up ?

(keeping with the humor ...... does it come in brown or just black ?)

Interesting post, I'm always fascinated by materials used to fabricate ideas to reality. I've used the adhesive backed neoprene foam. The only problem I've had is adhesive failure on tight curves.

The 3d printed cheek pieces feel amazing and look the best IMO , huge improvement over that lack of cheek rest.
