One of my favorite reasons to visit this forum is to see members creations. I like to see how others build and this gives me ideas. Sometimes I need to tweak the ideas because I don't have the skill of others. I swear I can't get a nail to hold anything they always come loose for me. I like to see steel targets and have copied most of the ones I have seen. some have been a success and some didn't work to great but I had a fun time building them. I think I have came to the place where I enjoy making stuff for this sport more than shooting. So Send those pictures in of things you make. Hey I may copy them don't they say thats the highest form of flattery.

Here's a couple of my target stands I made recovering from brain surgery a couple years ago : glued & screwed together in fact I traded one to nate (Kaylaindy) for some 3D service's . It will adjust to different size cardboard & that bottom aluminum piece I bent in a vice out of a flat sheet, it lets the stand remain vertical on uneven ground . Also did one without the 1/8"steel angle protection .

I made a front rest this morning. It levels, macro adjusts in the center post and micro adjust from the back screw. It works OK but I will make it better. Made a better rear bag using sand and the FoodSaver vacuum. Works great.

Those are nice. I really like those swingers. I am working on a rifle rest / vise myself.

My last bigger project... pellet trap that I keep at 100 yds. Can put 3 - 8 x 11.5 targets on it and easily handles 22 rimfire levels of energy.

Made some good, heavy duty spinners also, but no pics right now.

Hey Bob,

Is that pellet trap a snail design? I thought of making one of those in the past but never thought of using a old bottle. That is a great idea.

Excellent use of that bottle! I've been waiting to make one of those style of traps for a long time but, it's low on the priority list. Really cool how it's got a natural funnel built in. LOL!

Must be pretty heavy though!

It was supposed to be a snail design , but can't say that it works exactly like I expected. It DOES collect the lead.... mostly.... and I can unscrew the cap to empty it into a container easily . It weighs over 150, I'm pretty sure .

Glad I did it but need to pick up more steel sheet for the 30 and 50 yard traps that I have bottles for already.

Too many projects.....

Off topic sorta but homemade dog kennel from raw steel and aluminum Alro Steel. Took about a week to complete in between fishing and hunting. Cost of steel and aluminum was about 220 bucks.

start of a rifle vise. I need to put knobs where the bolts are. Then make legs for it if I need to use it out of the vise. Kinda red neck!

Gents,

I didn't like the way my Impact felt shooting off of a bipod attached to the short/factory trigger guard picatinny rail. Too narrow. Shooting with the bottle nestled into my front rest wasn't much better. Too wobbly. And I didn't have the Extendo-Acra-Swiss-Picatinny Triggerguard. So this is what I came up with. Made with stuff on hand,

and about 5 minutes on the mill. Stable, and rides the bags like a dream.

Made a stock for my Taipan Vet Long and that was my first attempt at making a wood stock. It fits and meets the design changes I wanted for ergonomics. I'll make another one out of really light colored wood, some day.

Awesome fab work on the dog crate and I know how long those things can take. Some of my customers, requiring fab and welding, start out with "this should only take five minutes" and my first response is to hang up the phone but I mostly do not.

Thats funny. Folks tell me all the time how easy something is. I have been out of the fabrication trade 30+ years. You want to talk about slow. I took a couple weeks to make a quad target probably spent two days of actual time. But I enjoyed it!

I am glad I got a good job. I tell the guys at work If I had to get a job as an electrician tomorrow I could be in trouble.

LOL! Yup. Or a similar favorite customer saying of mine when they bring in an old, falling apart, rusted part for repair and balk at the repair cost: "Can't you just run a quick bead on it?"
