Homemade Stock II

Recently I had knee surgery, and was faced with at least 3 weeks of downtime. I managed to get down to the shop and looked around for
something to occupy my time….and there it was…that old piece of walnut on the back of the bench. So I decided that stock I’ve been thinking about should come to fruition.….beware…I might have gotten carried away with the pictures…View attachment 448569I made a quick sketch with major dimensions…View attachment 448575and started inletting the action…View attachment 448576hogged out some material under the air tube from this heavy piece of wood…View attachment 448577It fits…View attachment 448579back to the bench to pickup pertinent points…View attachment 448580roughed out trigger area, butt stock, and cheek piece….View attachment 448581sawed the tapers on the table saw….having already milled away my reference surface, I hotmelt glued on a temporary one…View attachment 448582sawed off the hamster…View attachment 448583then the fore end….I really miss my bandsaw..View attachment 448584there’s the pieces…also dug thru my scrap aluminum for stock for the hardware..View attachment 448585first thing was a trigger guard….

Very nicely done! I appreciate your attention to detail and the fact that you designed it on paper first. woodworking was done very well, liked the choice of wood and grain, and the stippling came out nicely.

Reminds me of years ago when I made a copy of the AI AW stock for my Marauder. I can appreciate the time and effort that went into all the steps to make this an eye popper of a stock.

Good luck with it, and try not to let others slobber over it.
