BSA honest thoughts on the BSA Meteor Super .22

I got one recently on sale at AoA, and I am not happy with it. It's not accurate, but it's not broken in yet. It's weird because the 1st 10 or so shots seem to group, but then they are scattered. I haven't cleaned the barrel yet so that's next. I've checked the usual suspects, loose screws and I know how to shoot springers/gas ram guns. I've seen people on the internet talk about how bad the trigger is, but the trigger on the one I have is just fine.

Thoughts from a fellow member. I'd just go buy the HW80:

he is too young and small for that. i would but he cant handle my R9, so thats why i question the BSA.

The 22 cal is on sale for$200 out the door. That's why I got it. I thought that if it was half as good as my BSA Lightning GRT it would be worth $200. I'm going to check to see if AoA will take it back and put the $200 on a 22 cal HW80.

OK so HW50 maybe?? Hair smaller, lighter and an 11-12 fpe rifle.
then in a couple years he will out grow it. he wants a HW80 when he gets 14yo.
as long as he is excellent in school and well manner'd.....i will give him what he wants.
thats a great trade off these days. he also works hard with me on the farm.

Just another option if you haven't thought about it, but I have a Crosman 2289 that has been a joy to shoot and being a multipump it gives so many more options.
thank you for that info.....i have a 1959 model 312 benny my dad bought new and gave it to me when i was 12yo, 12 years later from when he bought it new.
5 years ago i sent it to Dennis Baker for a complete rebuild. its been a wonderful memory for me and a fine shooter for him and the rest of my grandkids....its priceless !!!

That's awesome! I'm a fan of the Crosman multi pumps I recently ordered a Custom Shop 1300KT however I've been having an issue with it but when it was shooting like intended it was fun to shoot. Crosman is trying to do what's right. I'll update on how it turns out..

if you own or owned one, please tell me what you think.
thinking about getting my youngest grandson one for Christmas, he has about
wore out his hatty.......when he gets a little older i plan on getting him an HW80.
thanks !
I'm revising my opinion. After I thoroughly cleaned the barrel it's shooting pretty good. These are 25 yards standing and shooting off a Calswell Fielspod. One group is Crosman HP and the other is H&N FTTs. I pulled one shot with the FTTs.

Those groups are very respectable!

I picked up one of the AoA specials as well, but have only cleaned the barrel and test fired at close range for function check.

I plan to put it through its paces over the holidays when we visit the in-laws out in the country. I'll report back and add to the user experiences here!
