I suggest an HW30 / R7. He will never out grow it. Heirloom quality and accurate to a fault with an incredible trigger.

That’s exactly what I was going to recommend, that, and some 7.33gr pellets. He could learn all about HW’s and the trigger before moving up to the HW80.

I think the BSA will be much better than anything the rest of us had at 12 years old. He will love it. He will hone his skills and be more able to appreciate the HW80 when the time comes. He is lucky to have you.

I'm revising my opinion. After I thoroughly cleaned the barrel it's shooting pretty good. These are 25 yards standing and shooting off a Calswell Fielspod. One group is Crosman HP and the other is H&N FTTs. I pulled one shot with the FTTs.View attachment 410393
