hour meter

I am wondering if anyone has used this on the Yong Heng compressor : https://www.amazon.com/Digital-Vibration-Wireless-Vibrating-Motorcycle/dp/B0746HSFWG

This meter has got a wire loop at the back ( see photo below ). It seems that the loop is there to pick up the electromagnetic pulse generated by the spark plug of engines. The device is said to be "vibration activated" but I am not sure if it works off vibration alone or a combination of vibration and electromagnetic pulse. If it's the latter, it may not work on Yong Heng.

My understanding of the wire loop is it keeps the unit from being switched on until it is ready for use. Cut the wire and mount it. I've found that mine recorded nothing the first time I operated the pump and whilst sitting idle for a few weeks, it crept up to about 1 hour on the meter. Then nothing the next time I used it and it crept up another 2 hours whilst idle for another few weeks. Now it seems to be working the way it's supposed to. I thought that maybe it should be mounted vertically or perhaps the double sided tape that I used to mount it, may have been insulating the vibrations. Both hypotheses made no sense and if this thing didn't vibrate enough to activate the meter, then nothing would. Anyway, it's working ok now, I just need to subtract 2 hours from the counter to be somewhat correct.

Thanks for the reply. I don't know the wire is to be cut but it makes sense. I will try to mount it vertically and see if the reported problem can be avoided.

I use this one and it seems to be fairly accurate. I just used the double sided tape it comes with and set it to low sensitivity and it hasn't gone up while not in use.

@titanflyer, Same one I use. Measures total run time plus can also measure interval time.
