How cold is to cold?

I’m a fair weather airgun hunter. Also not a big fan of exposing a PCP to big temperature swings. I’ll hunt them until the temps drop below 40. But I prefer 50‘s to 60’s. Just more enjoyable.
Totally agree. I used to love this time of year when I was younger, not so much anymore...

I brought my 2.17L bottle in from my truck, yesterday. It was near zero and the tank read 3000psi. Hour later, inside, it read 3400psi. That was a bigger swing than I would have thought. I imagine the bores would constrict a small amount and the regs would get a little sluggish too, depending on what you lube them with. I have never shot mine below zero but I am curious as to how they would do. I might check with one of my cheapies, although I am more interested in the AAA results.

the squirrel population is under control atm at about 4-5 around the property, but i have noticed rat activity around the chicken coop .. they come over from the neighbors place and raid at night and if i let it go can get into the garage and do real damage ... its getting into the 20, 30's at night here, so im gonna set up the .25 with an atn thor thermal in the window overlooking the coop .. it will require leaving the window open to be most successful, which means leaving the heat off, heated blanket, propane buddy heater in the room, and a couple of infrared motion detectors for early warning set up around the coop ... but me actually getting out in 30* weather by choice and 'hunting', no .. just no🥶

I think this is what qualifies as too cold. Damn this weather. Atlanta got plastered.. The Weatherman, the apps all said maybe a flurry or two after 6-7pm for maybe an hour or so.... Ended up hitting at 245... BARELY made it home, The snow was heavy and short lived, the problem is it stuck to the pavement, slightly wet snow, the temperature dropped and everything flash froze in a matter of one hour. In the span of less than one full hour the roads went from navigable to a solid sheet of ice. Took me 3 hours to get the 3.1miles from the interstate exit to my driveway.

So far here in Tennessee I've seen 1 squirrel on a feeder. Going to wait till around 9:30 here before I start hunting and maybe the zan 10gr will be here by then. With the lighter hammer weight hopefully they perform decent because boy if it ain't 10gr it ain't flying decent
i can hear sparrow chirps and doves behind me. Might shoot out the window... 18 is a little cold for me to sit outside.

Years ago a couple of us took our guns outside in freezing temps and let them sit for an hour. Brought them back in and immediately ran some chronograph numbers. It wasn’t good.

somewhat normal for Wisconsin, There have been times when it became a 6 hour white knuckle to get home less than 15 miles although that is fairly rare.
