❓ How did you get your .30cal to be "backyard quiet"?

Miami,

you have no idea how large the rats are in my city....
I mean, Miami metro is big, I give you that: 6 mil.
But where I live, Lima metro, we got about twice that many.

➔ And so... — the rats look more like this:

Yupp, I think a .30cal should at least be considered to tickle their ears a bit.....

OK, I couldn't restist.

▪ And yes, I am sooooo kidding.
▪ And you are sooooo right with your comment.

▪ And you also have brought up the two extremes I'm trying to balance out here:
QUIET on the one hand, and
OVERKILL on the other. 😉

Well, hell.. I guess I really DO like you... LOL. :). My kinda guy.

Go for the Leshiy 2 .30 if your budget affords it. Extremely good gun, and very quiet - takes down raccoons easy, so even on a very light tune Ratzilla there outta go down ok.

Thanks, Miami! 👍🏼😄

That Leshiy, yeah, very nice, semi-auto is attractive, but oh that's a bit pricey....

I was more thinking of an RTI Prophet or Priest I.
🔹️And part of what I'm trying to figure out in this thread is if I can get QUIET and POWER in a .30cal with the 400mm barrel — the Compact version of these guns.

In short, with a good moderator the target will start to be the problem, not the gun. :)

I occasionally go shooting cane toads with my AEA HP MAX .30, it is reasonably loud because of the tune, which, by that, I do mean I still can shoot it in the backyard, as I have a dfl emperor on the darn thing, but it's not anything like my really quiet airguns... sounds about like my silenced .22LR, if you have ever heard one of those - the target, however, sounds like a damn gunshot going off when they're hit using the Predator Polymags...

So, the answer, is 'probably quiet enough, but it'll need to be a light tune, which will be fine for even big rats anyway, so as to avoid a massive report from the target '

You're releasing a larger volume of high pressure air as you go up in caliber and power. The larger the volume the louder the volume so you have to increase moderator volume to compensate. The muffler type like DonnyFl works okay but they don't trap any air. For the greatest efficiency you want the high pressure air to stay behind the projectile until the pressure is closer to atmospheric before being released. Cone baffles with a tight tolerance do the best job of this. So much so that it seems to stretch the sound a bit and you still hear the air coming out after the shot. I sold my Ronin just a few minutes after testing the cone baffles. The difference was night and day and I knew I could never use the muffler type moderators again.

Wow, that's a ringing endorsement! 👍🏼 I really need to check into that!

❓ So, which silencers on my Silencer Specs Table have cones instead of baffles?

None that I'm aware of. You can buy the fx empty cans new or used. If you're ready to buy I'd contact fx usa and get the 1/2-20 version in the caliber of your choice with two center sections. Each center section is about 75mm long so be sure you get the right ones. They also have extensions that are about 25mm.
I can provide the cone baffle files for a 3d printer so you can print them if you have one or use an online service or have a friend print them. I was giving the manager of fx usa a hard time years ago because no dealer would order the suppressor parts for me so he sent me some for free to shut me up. I'm sure you can buy them by now. I just noticed you're from Puru. Maybe a local dealer will order the suppressor parts for you.
