How does the AGT Uragan 2 compare with the AGT Vulcan 3 – for long range Slug Shooting?

I tryed a lot of slugs and only got good (great) results with ZAN .218 slugs. I have an Uragan 2 600.
And had to up the speed to get good results. Right now Its "perfect" with the ZAN 25.5gr .218 shooting at 1005fps.
I didn't get to try the 25.5gr zans, but everything Zan has in .218 from 27gr to 40gr did not shoot good at all out of my U2 700mm. I upped the reg 1/5th of a turn and it went from shooting the 25gr H&N HP2 at 935-940 to 993-1002fps. I will likely increase the reg somewhere between 1/4-3/8 of a turn. I would ideally like to shoot the 33gr H&N precision slugs along 930-950fps

Well, each barrel is different. Only trying you get to know what works and what not. Maybe its the speed?

when I have to order more stuff I'll order one tin of those H&N HP2 to try it out. But I wont keep my hopes high, the regular H&N slugs (not the revised HP2) were not good at all on my U2.

That's interesting, idk if H&N sponsored any of the U2 700mm. I say this because every video I have seen of the U2 on youtube has been shot with the 25gr HN HP2 and those are what have been the best slugs for it out of the box. I haven't tested the normal HN 25gr either and I won't.

I agree, it could just be a speed thing, I've read sometimes it's a speed range for the valves in these guns so maybe the 25.5gr would've worked in my gun.

with my .30 V3HP, those H&N HP2 are less accurate than the ZANs that i have tested (on 50m).

here's some (mostly ZAN) results:

Yes, the safety on all my Uragans is vague, but they work. And I can operate them with ease. I’ve been shooting my .30 and so far I’m not overly impressed with it as a slugger. All shooting just at 75 yards so far. The one slug that shoots best kinda shocked me. I have one more slug I’d like to test before the barrel comes off and I sniff around. Right now it’s a 50 yard slug gun with the other slugs. For me, if a slug won’t outshoot a pellet out of any gun, it’s still a pellet gun.

In my u2 22 700 the original white box zans shot well . I think something must have changed in there recipe as the black box shot not so well . 218 25.5

Out of the box, my FX DRS .22 Cal 600 mm with super powerful plenum would be my favorite to shoot only slugs.... Mine is outstandingly accurate with NSA 25 grain slugs.

And it gives 60 fpe..... Not many shots per fill, nut more than enough for "hunting purposes".

My Daystate Wolverine HP non regulated .30 Cal shoots NSA 61.5 grain slugs as a champ too.

My Delta Wolf with the .25 Cal barrel shoots really good slugs.

My Vulcan 3 700 mm .25 Cal is picky with slugs, but with pellets is easier.... Yesterday I found that it likes the must H&N grizzlies slugs.

When you remove the barrels from these, do they need to be aligned properly or do they have etched sections like the Katrans do?

Don’t know yet. I lapped a tension shim at work today so I will try it and one more slug before I contemplate my next move. The barrel cleaned up quickly so I know there isn’t an issue there.

Okay, I aired mine back up after adjusting the reg again and I'm currently shooting 30gr slugs around 970fps, still getting a lot of shots too, it seems to favor H&N HP2 slugs

It would worth it for someone with a good bench and rest, to compare accuracy of Vulcan 3 700 mm vs. FX DRS 600 and super high power plenum..... Both with slugs at long range.

Maybe the DRS would give a surprise.....
Not interested in running around with a long a$$ gun so it doesn’t matter what a DRS can do. I had one and it was the first FX I owned that felt cheap. Sold it. But it shot well.

I’m trying to figure out why these things have way too much hammer spring. All three of mine, even after upping the reg on two of them, I’ve backed the HS out three turns and the gun still shows signs that I can go more. Had to mod my stocks to accommodate the adjuster sticking out. It’s a balance valve. No need to smash the living daylights out of it. Trying to figure out the method to someone’s madness.

These balanced valves have to be set up at a specific sweet spot right? Does it matter if it high up or not? I remember seeing someone recently make a post about tmadjusting the speed but his groups were all over the place regardless of where he tuned the hammer spring.

As I understand it, the balance valves need much less force to open unlike a poppet valve. Thus the hammer spring tension has much less effect.
