How does the HW 30S compare to the HW 50S? 0.22 versus 0.25?

There is a shop in the UK that custom makes a 50 (HW99 over there) into a 25. The guy is ex SAS and makes incredible shots on bunnies.

Si was never in the SAS or any special forces or sniper squads. He was a senior officer in the Royal Horse Artillery—the chaps who lob those 155 mm Howitzers. So, let's just say, the bloke knows his ballistics

I suggest the HW95. They are right around 14 - 17 fpe and are easier to cock than a HW50. Can pass it onto your kids when you get too old to shoot.

I kill anything up to and including Coons and one very sick Fox (kind of fragile compared to a coon's scull ) my HW 97 .177 is tuned down to 11.6 FPE

Thanks! At this point, I'm thinking something a bit more than the HW30 is probably a great trade-off for cocking effort and balancing over penetration and missed shot damage.

shoulder problems anything bigger than HW 30 will be a problem cocking,,
the HW is a little gun for little rodents and sparrows
a co2 powered gun 70F degrees to 90F or shoot from a climate controlled window,,,, it is Texas

but for me it is pcp all the way,, but it is not the answer for everyone

What does something like that cost today in the USA? The only post I saw mentioned it was 325£ in 2019 so pre-BREXIT and Inflation.

Only available in the U.K and it was just a special run for Sandwell. So, they are unobtanium.

The Weihrauch HW95 Luxus is looking pretty good. Would it be better in a 0.25 or 0.22? In a 0.20 or 0.177, I think I would get too many pass-throughs on small critters but, I am open to hearing differing thoughts. All 4 seem to be listed as 20J which is 14.75ft/lb so reasonable thump for critters in general.

Krale shows only the 0.177 and 0.22 and AoA shows all 4 calibers as a pre-order with them being ~$100 more as well.

In 22 you could try the JTS 18 grain wadcutters.
They would be slow enough combined with the w/c flat, hit like a hammer. May still pass through a squirrel.

Next time I turn mine into 22 I will try it. But I already have a gun dedicated to that pellet.

I have a .20 caliber HW95 Luxus, great rifle in beech. For pesting, I vote for .22 caliber. Pellets go from 11 grains all the way up to 34 grains. Lightweight wadcutters would really put the smack down.
