Stoeger How good does YOUR Stoeger shoot?

Hey everyone, I've been watching the Stoeger XM1 Rangers and Scouts for a long time. I've also been interested in their bullpup. BUT, when Airgun Revisions had them on sale, I pulled the trigger and bought one in .22 caliber. So far I LOVE IT! In the following pics you'll see my groups at 30 yards. Keep in mind this was done without any tinkering so the hammer spring was in stock setting. Some of the groups were flying at 950/960 fps! So I'll update when I get more dialed in but so far it seems to like most pellets. I tried CPHPs and they were just too fast to shoot a good group, but you can see my H&N Barracuda Match, Field Target Trophy, FX & Hades (which both did really well) and JSB Jumbo Heavy groups did fairly well. So what kind of Stoeger do you have? What distance to you shoot? And what kind of groups do you get with what ammo? Looking forward to seeing the targets!

I have 3 P35s. They are not Stoegers but Stoegers PCPs are made by Snowpeak, SPA, who make the P35. My airguns are very similar to Bullsharks. I like shooting 30 yard challenge targets with them. My best overall with the 22 is a 200, a 196 with the 177 and a 194 with the 25 caliber. My best this year (so far) is a 198 with the 22 and a 193 with the 177. I haven't tried the 25 caliber yet this year. I do not shoot a lot of groups but the 10 ring on the 30 yard challenge target is about 1/8th inch so to get 10s somewhat consistently requires about 1/4 inch groups. My 22 likes Baracuda Match pellets, the 177 likes Baracuda Match and Baracuda FTs, and the 25 likes JSB 34 grain.

That's interesting and good to know. I knew Stoeger and Snowpeak were related somehow. I've never shot 30 yard challenge targets, although I zero most of my guns at 30yds. I'm more of a hunter than target shooter; the kill zone of a coyote is roughly the size of a 8 inch pie plate, so anywhere in the boiler zone and I'm good. From HAMs test shooting .22 (on the Ranger) they shot Baracuda Match the best. I know I'll have to do some tinkering with the hammer spring, but time and weather were a factor this morning when I shot those groups.

I post pics for a friend that has 2 Stoeger Rangers because he is a little tech naive but he pests ghogs, starlings and HOSP's and doesn't miss a shot with any of them! Great shooters punching well above their price point 👍.

Now that's a nice pic! I'm sure you're right about not missing. I would bet the rangers shoot just a 'bit' better than the scouts because of the longer barrels but my Scout is doing great so far. What's his farthest shot? And I'm not familiar with HOSPs....? Hairy Old Stinky Possums?

LOL...HOSP's are invasive sparrow's! For ghogs he usually doesn't shoot them farther than about 40yds, birds probably out to 80yds. A longer barrel doesn't equate to more accuracy but more easy power and less air consumption compared to a shorter barrel on the same tune.

Ooooohkay got it. birds at 80yds? impressive considering the small size! Agreed on the power thing with long barrels. Thanks for the inputs on accuracy.

So what's your thoughts about getting one now?

I am going to get one but I may wait on the .25 caliber. I have the Bullshark in.22 caliber and I am very happy with it. What ever I choose, I will go to Rich at Airgun Revisions. He is a great guy. Please keep us posted on how you tune your rifle.
