How much has your FX impact POI moved today ????🥴🥴

I had an M3 in .22 with a 700 mm barrel. I loved the shot count, high capacity magazine, and compactness. But POI would shift during a shooting session sometimes. I could always get it back but I lost confidence in the gun because I never knew if/when it would shift. I talked to a lot of people and it was always the same I needed to buy some new accessory. I got burnt out buying new stuff for it. That’s why I bought an expensive top tier gun so I didn’t have to do that. I finally sold it and bought a RAW. I’m not blaming it all on the M3. I’m sure some of it was ignorance at least some of the time. I still think a gun at that price point shouldn’t need another $500-$1000 of accessories to get it to stay on point like I was always told. But I’m a shooter more than a tuner to.

I agree with your assessment along with temperature variation. When I lower my cheek upon the rest, I can see through the scope that there is a change from the flex when doing so. Since I live in an area that has high temperatures, yet cool in the mornings, that seems to play into the shifts as well. This is especially true when facing south and the sun heats up only the east side. With so many differing materials heating at different rates, it stands to reason that this can be a contributing factor to POI shift.
For instance, I just shot great groups during a session while the weather was cool the entire time, no POI change at all. Yet when shooting during temperature changes, I must adjust the scope later in the day to keep it in the 10 ring. I'm talking temperature changes from 60° to mid 90° through the shoot time. This in full sun to where I can't even put my cheek on the stock because of the heat being emitted from the black soaking it up. Many-times using a towel to cover in between shots.
It all adds up to POI shifts in my book.

I was experiencing the same problem. I was grabbing the gun by the moderator, to get it out of my safe. I would get it all sighted in and then the next time I got it out I was way off target, like in the dirt. (Left to right). I recentered my barrel and tighten my FX barrel band, nice and tight. I no long pick the gun by the barrel. I also don't rest the gun on the barrel. My gun now stays zeroed. I noticed how easy it was to move the barrel left or right, by pushing it with my thumb. My FX barrel band came with little rubber plugs that go in before the set screws. This protects your air tub, from getting marked up. I was able to get my barrel nice and tight. It now takes some effort to move it.
Good luck, I hope this helps

Concur. At RMAC I saw some FX Impact shooters (well, aren't they all?) shooting the PRS event. A few had the 800mm barrel, but weren't using the CF tensioning device. I asked and they told me (won't mention names) that it was great for constant temp, but it changed the POI during the day due to different coefficients of expansion when going from cool to hot (60 to 90 degrees F) like Mike said above. Not sure if FX addressed this issue but I'd bet they know about it and have a fix for it by now... I use a CF (3mm thick) tensioned barrel in my .25 Impact Slugger and use a 90 duro 14x1.5mm o-ring (between two metal shims) between the CF tube and the breech to act as a buffer for temperature changes.

When I shot the Wasatch Extreme Field Target event I was squadded with two guys that were both using FX. One was an Impact and the other was a Crown. There were also FX guns being shot in the groups ahead of our squad. All of them that were in my general vicinity dealt with poi shifts both days. The two I was with were good natured and took it in stride and we all had fun anyway. I was frustrated because my gun didn't have enough energy to drop the targets, even with witnessed clean kill zone shots. So while all three of us in my squad were frustrated, we had fun anyway. One of the FX guys in the group ahead of me was a bit more frustrated. I heard more cussing from that single guy that single day than I had heard in the entire year combined.

From what I've seen, the FX liner system is capable of accuracy as good as anything else, but the majority of them seem to be prone to shifting impact points. So, in a game like benchrest where a shooter gets an unlimited amount of sighters, the FX liner system can do quite well. But in a game like field target where every shot counts towards your score, and ZERO sighters are allowed.....well, FX liner system puts that shooter at a disadvantage. Just my opinion.

Oh it is the gun alright it’s been proven already.
Every screw on the rifles rail has been torqued correctly along with rings and mount.
The scope is the second scope this is a proven scope Athlon midas.
Had the same problem with my impacts when I had them, poi changed everytime if I didn’t shoot them all the time, needless to say I no longer own any more impacts or fx’s for that matter, my other American made air rifles can sit for weeks and will be spot on first shot..
