How often do you change you oil in you yong heng, How quickly should to drain on the first fill

Personly after its first full run . That first run oil will "washout" any uncleaned out factory assembly stuff like metal glakes or what not.. so id fill as normal run it good to temp. And drain well. Kinda look at that first oil fill as a one run break in / clean out oil.. of course everyone got there thing and way on whats best ..

I know you aren't supposed to mix brands / types of oil in the reservoir would there be a problem using some inexpensive Husky synthetic compressor oil to "flush" out a new one, running up to 50-60 degrees C then drain it and put in the high dollar stuff. I would imagine that the amount of Husky oil left in there wouldn't be a problem.

I am also interested in how many hours between oil changes various people prefer in addition to how long before draining the first flushing fill. The factory specs seem way too long to me for the scheduled drain and fill. I went with 15 hours for my first regular oil change using Royal Purple and it looked pretty dark, so that might be too long.

The oil turns black quick but i guess you could dipstick some out and rub between your fingers and feel how slick it still is vs fresh. Also after a run dipstick some out and whip it on a clean white paper towel hold it up to light or sun and look for any specks shiny like metal.

Also when you change the oil you could use a white coffee filter and after your drained to inspect for any crud left in it ..

Somthing as this kinda compressor you really need to do it on a as needed . Like of you feel by your best judgement call . After you het time on it you will kinda figure out a average time frame or a lets not exceed this amount of run time no matter ..

Well, maybe. I just overhauled my YH. I drained the oil thru the drain plug. When I pulled the cylinder and piston, I was surprised on how much oil was still in the crankcase.

Well once you get the bulk of oil out at first do you cock and tilt the unit to maybe release that trapped remaining oil? That remaining oil like you say kinda defeats the clean oil back in. Im sure theres a amount of residue oil but just how much? These things just seem like a hope for the best equipment anyway.

Ya, i dont know .. just seems a gray area that infos all over the place on whats right or whats best . I guess best i remember the manufacturer calls for hydrologic fluid .. so from that you wing it on what's available local or order speciality products you feels better .

Like you buy a new car and ask the dealer what oil and filter is recommended and he just shrugs his shoulders and walks away..lol
