A JC Higgins .22 all metal co2 revolver. Sold by sears and made in the USA. Definitely not something you see everyday. Belongs to my dad and im positive its older than me. I had it working but its sat a while and leaks now so I'll have to fix it again but it will still shoot. How old is this thing and is there anywhere that sells parts for it or do I need to match seals from something else.

All of Sears's air guns were made by Daisy or Crosman air gun Company under the JC Higgins name. All the Crosman model numbers started with 126.xxxxx.

If, as I suspect, that is the Sears variant of the SA6 (Single Action 6), it was produced sometime between 1959 and 1969.

Got one of those, (Crosman branded) and yeah, looks like a SA6.
Good chance it’s just the donut-seal that seals where the ctg is pierced. These tend to crumble with age. Should be the same one used in the 38T. Mac1 sells these with the piercing unit as a set. Advisable to replace both.
Can be accessed without total disassembly, look under the barrel. Retained by a threaded ring with two notches. I’ve done it with a blade-screwdriver in one notch (best to be gentle. Cutting a wide slot in a screwdriver blade makes a tool that will engage both slots (safest method).

Thanks skillet. I did replace the oring that seals around the neck of the co2 but there never was a bottom seal like that since I've been around. Probably why it leaks so bad. I will look into that. Thanks.

My dad has one just like this from when he was a kid. i used to love to play with it as a child.(even though it didnt shoot)

Well I ripped it all apart and replaced all the seals, cleaned everything good, and repainted it. No leaks now and it shoots again. Was a fun little project.

Congratulation on doing it yourself! I personally do not like working on clam shell designs, even own one the needs re-built. Fun fun old rig you've got there and proven to last and last. You will likely need to re-build it again in 2-40 years tho.

It was a simple project. The hardest part was getting the little detent ball and spring that hold the cylinder still to stay in place. I used caliper paint. Had some left from some auto projects and its pretty heavy duty stuff

the best way I found to do the detent... I noticed that the left side has a spot for the spring and ball, but the right side was more about holding it... so I set the spring and ball tilted up toward the cylinder... then use the right side to push it in & hold... I was getting the hang of it once I got plenty of practice chasing a leak... got mine all figured out, 3/4in groups at 20ft and about 270 over the chrono... I was impressed given the age...

I wish it was possible to change the seals on the replica guns made today. If they made them like that before why can't they make them like that today? Interesting old thread.
