How to determine approximate date of manufacture on Benjamin Franklin Model 312

Howdy guys,

I already did my due diligence in looking to see if this question was already answered.

My problem (and yet my solution, too) is that my Benjamin Franklin rifle lacks a serial number to look up! On the one hand, if it DID have a serial number, I could look it up. On the other hand, I'm not finding anywhere an answer to my question of: "When did Benjamin Franklin (or other makers) start to put serial numbers on their guns"?

That would help me a lot in trying to determine an approximate year of manufacture.

Thanks much,
Steve in Arizona

I'm thinking that's a sixties era gun. The guys over at the 'gateway to airguns' vintage forum will be happy to help. There just aren't many vintage experts/collectors here.

You can likely find it here - Vintage Airguns Gallery Forum | -VAGF-

I did a bit of looking around... And if it doesn't have a serial number it was probably made tween '69 and '74. For some reason they didn't number their rifles in that period.

Luck,

J~
